    Irregular periods

    Okay, here's my situation.

My family has a long history of stress issues and I thought I was lucky and missed them. I was wrong. While this has had an effect on the rest of my life it's my periods that really pay for it.

I know it's not pregnancy or anything. I know that will come up. Just getting it out of the way.

My periods have been erratic and irregular for the past six months, about the time that some stressful situations came up as well, so no mystery here. I'm increased my sleep regularity, improved my diet( not much more to do, I've been a health nut for years), cut back on sugar and caffeine, begun working out more, taking personal time, and dealing with the same situations that cause the stress. And I'm still late again. My cycles go from 21 days, 32 days, 27 days and so on. I keep track of my cycle and it still doesn't make sense. Once I skipped totally.

I've considered going on the pill, but I also sometime barely keep a handle on my stress and anxiety and don't want anything that could make that worse. It's enough of a challenge as is.

I know I am young yet and still have much to learn, so I leave it up to the people here. Would you suggest the pill? Or is there an alternative that I haven't tried yet that could also work? All I want is to know when the thing is coming.

hey im going through the same thing. it could be that not only stress is changing your cycle but your change with the work out, and diet etc. i started a new diet at ballys and new eating habits, worked out everyday and was stressed with work, school, the army, and a bf, so there you have it. i wouldnt consider getting on bc if your not having sex because you never know what kinda changes your body will get.

I would not suggest going on the pill, especially if you are having any doubts at all. I don't agree with the pill for the most part, as I do not feel that it is very healthy to stop ovulation, which is what it does.

I have always been a very strung out, stressed out person. I have not yet come up with a fool-proof solution, but I can tell you this:

Lavender is a calming scent...I know that sounds silly, but get yourself a lavender candle...you'll see.

Google "breathing techniques". These work, if you follow through and use them.

Make sure that you have some sort of "outlet"....such as writing, or singing, or dancing, running, painting, hunting, sports, etc....you get the idea. Good luck!
