    Hemorrhagic cyst?

    Hello,
Today I went to the ER for some sharp pain in my lower left abdomen. They ended up taking blood, urine tests, and ultrasounds.

They found that I have a bladder infection as well as a hemorrhagic cyst on my left ovary that is 3.4cm x 2.3 cm x 2.0 cm. This sounds pretty scary, especially when I think about how painful it is for me. The doctor acted like it wasn't a big deal, but I am pretty scared. It hurts quite a bit unless I am completely relaxed and laying down. Which is hard to keep up when I need to work and live in general.

is this something that I should be worried about ? Should I go to my OBGYN or will this be overkill?

He gave me antibiotics for the infection and told me to take 600mg of ibuprofen every 6 hours for the pain.

any input would be great as I am pretty scared

Hey JP. I think anytime you have an issue with your lady parts, it's best to see an OB/GYN. That is their specialty, whereas the ER doctor is concerned with treating the immediate and potentially life threatening issues.

Any news on the cyst? Has it been removed?
I had to go through surgery to remove ovarian cysts twice. It was fast and also fast recovery. No worries. Also, sometimes they just give pills (normal birth-control pills) as treatment in some situations, me included.
