    Ouuuch!

We've all had to deal with the horrible pain of cramps! Ouch! Although pain relievers do help...I've often wanted a more soothing type of relief! Those new thermal patches or any type of heat pad work really well!

the best is to take motrin and drink drinks like gatorade because we loose alot of blood which means we loose a lot of sugar so gatorade also helps!!

        Ouch is right!

I have horrible cramps! That was why I initially started that horrible Depo Provera birth control. Yuck! But anyway, I try to use midol and it makes me feel extremely loopy. Does that happen to anyone else? I just have to stick with Advil and heating pads or hot baths. Be sure to stay away from caffeine while on your period. It's supposed to make it worse! I also wonder if you should avoid Aspirin while on your period because it thins your blood?? Hmm.

Depo Provera, I say stay away from that. I was bleeding for 8 months after that injection. Had to have a clean out, then I was back to normal.

Depo is HORRIBLE and should be taken off the market, but I won't go into that here. I posted about it in the birth control section. What a nightmare.

Anyway, I had another thought... I have stopped using tampons unless I really need to. I noticed that they make my cramps worse and my period seems to actually last longer when I use them. My thought is that you are shedding a layer of mucous and tissue. The tampons only absorb the liquid/blood and so they leave all the thick mucous and tissue behind. I would think the stuff that gets left behind would kind of become clumpy and harder to come out on it's own because the tampon absorbed all the liquid. Not to gross anyone out. My periods were lasting for 7 to 8 days when I only used tampons. Now they only last about 5 days when I only use pads. I hate pads, but they really seem to help.

            Just a thought.

I find the Advil Migrane works best for cramps. Even better than regular Advil. A heating pad works too.... Sometimes Pilates works for me because it is slowly and systematically moving the abdomin muscles and in the end feels like rubbing your stomach.... and if nothing else, a couple glasses of red wine works like a charm!!

I have cramps from hell. I've tried everything and so far every thing seems to only work for a bit and then it stops working eventually.
I have to take at least three midol right away to feel any effect, but yes, it makes me very loopy. But that's still better than being doubled over in pain.
