    bacterial vaginosis

    Hey everyone,

I recently been getting diagnosed with BV since last year when we move to texas and now me and my husband are living overseas in germany. Recently, since may/june i keep getting BV...I am so fed up with it. Since I go to a military doctor they just diaganose me and give me my flagyl. I asked the doc if he should give antibiotics to my husband too just in case...but he said no. I have switched over to unscented everything (soap, detergent, you name it). I am trying to cut back on drinking soda that contains caffeine. What I think is funny is that I tend to get BV mid-month. I am at the point of not knowing what to do anymore and it is making me depressed and frustrated. Does anybody know any other suggestions I can do to prevent BV or any herbal supplements that help prevent it as well. We are about to move again so of course I will be seeing another doctor....I don't know what to do anymore.

    BV

Get a bacterial culture done. You may have e-coli or somthing like that. BV meds do not kill those types of bacteria. You'll need a high powered antibiotic. Most docs are too stupid to do this. You'll probably have to ask for a culture. Also, dont do boric acid. they kill good bacteria and let the really bad stuff grow, and wipe front to back.

I've had bv twice now last month but went away in 3 day's by time i went to doctor but she did check me for std's which came back all neg. Then had sex again and 2 day's later had the sihy foul smelling discharge which i don't understand cause my boyfriend can not ejaculate.I've read where some women are allergic to the semen.Men do pre-cum so i guess even that little bit irritates me,which i will use condom's now to see I was stupid in the first place to have sex without condom's anyway's went to doctor yesterday she put me on metroindazol and i did ask her to run cultures for ecoli i read that on the old threads about a women who had ecoli anyways my doctor said that was a good idea she didn't think of running extra culture's to see so i'll let ya know what showed up anyway's I tried last night where i read on here also about hydrogen peroxide i filled up a syringe with 2cc of the hydro inside at bed time and my god did white stuff was bubbling out anyway's this morning noticed the smell wasn't as pungent as yesterday so i'm doing this for 7 day's and I'm going to a health store and see if they have vitamins for bv to help regulate my ph cause i sure in the hell don't want to have chronic bv

        acidophilus

Try taking acidophilus. It is good bateria that will kill the bad bacteria. It is in most yogart. Taking more that 10 billion in a pill a day can cause an upset stomach. I have strugled with a BV for 2 years now. My husband was treated and we didn't have sex for 2 months just to see what happened and him being treated didn't help. Good luck I know it sucks.. I think my BV was caused my my IUD. Do you have one? I got mine taken out cause I never had one till I got my IUD....

I just read on here yesterday that Primadophilis Reutari works better than acidophilus. Its more powerful and I went to the healthfood store and sure enough they keep it in the refridgerator and they told me the same thing. The gal on here said she takes it and has had no more out breaks of BV. Im willing to try anything at this point. She said she took it and 5 hours later the odor was gone. We will see. Although I am on Flagyl right now but maybe I can go at least a month without this nasty crud again.

            Chronic BV

I've been dealing with chronic BV for a while now. The problem is that it is simply an overgrowth of normal bacteria. The overgrowth is promoted by and thrives in moisture, so if you get a fever, night sweats, or do anything that works up a sweat for a prolonged time it could be the catalyst for your BV.
It is completely curable with Flagyl, however some women are simply more prone to imbalance and just keep getting it again and again.
Lately I have been keeping mine at bay by taking acidophilus and folic acid in the morning, then folic acid again at night. This has really helped me. Also, I always wash and dry thoroughly after any serious exercise, night sweats, and any sexual contact that involves the area.
            Hope this helps
