In my other post, I also talked about having problems with yeast infections. The problem is, since my symptoms are already semi-yeast infection related, it's getting to the point where I can't REALLY tell if I have one or not. I usually have burning in the vaginal area daily and I constantly have this odd discharge...but this has been going on for months and at the dr's office I only showed yeast in a culture ONE time. So if you were in my situation, how would you tell if you had a *real* yeast infection or if you were just confusing symptoms you've already been having? I've seen the doctor 6 times since February and I can't keep going back, so should I just treat it if I think I might have one?
And on that same note, if I treat it with an OTC medicine every time (like Monistat), is there such a thing as "too much"? Like, will using Monistat too often make things worse down there or will it make my body less likely to fight it off? Plus, I can't find any info about using Monistat on a regular basis, and I don't know what any long-term effects might be?
Any insight on this or any helpful info is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
