Are these orgasms or am I mistaken?

I've noticed a lot of orgasm threads lately, and I've taken a peek at them. It seems like a lot of women have difficulty achieving orgasm... a problem I've never seemed to have.
But then I started thinking... what if the things I'm experiencing aren't true orgasms?

The feelings I've had vary quite a bit. Sometimes it feels like a big shock followed by many smaller ones, after which it often hurts to touch my clit. That happens when I use only my clit.
Then I have the warm-melty feeling. Sometimes my boyfriend will tie me up and not let me use my hands, so I think I get a G-spot orgasm... it feels like something just builds up and gets tense, then gets really warm and melts all over the place. I'm so tired after that happens.
The last one I'm pretty sure is an orgasm, it's when I touch my clit during sex, usually when I'm on top. It's sorta a combination of the warm-melty sensation with a million shocks. I don't like my vagina or clit to be touched after this, and I'm usually quite tired.

Do these things sound like orgasms? Sometimes when I just touch myself, the feeling gets too intense and I stop after I feel a couple shocks, but I never know if those shocks are the orgasm, or if I could've kept going and gotten something more intense. But I get scared... weird as that sounds...
And often time, as the feelings during sex start, I'm never sure if they're finished or not, because my boyfriend comes shortly after he hears me (I'm quite loud) coming, so I don't know if it was an orgasm and I was done, or if it could've kept going and been better.
Either way, it feels amazing, so I'm not complaining or anything like that. I just want to know if these feelings are in fact orgasms.

Then again, I've also heard that "if you have to ask, it's probably not it".

    What do you guys think?

Now you are even making me question my "orgasms" lol. Well, if it feels like you've climaxed, I guess it must be an orgasm then. I get that too, that when I have an orgasm, it hurts to try and continue. But I guess orgasms are different each time depending on the intensity.

Yeah, I suppose so. It's just that... I wonder, you know? No one ever talks about what exactly an orgasm is supposed to feel like. Is it the "shock-like" feelings, the warm-melty feelings... or should it feel like something else? Any time I've asked someone around me, no one seems to be able to put it to words...

I asked my boyfriend once what his orgasms feel like, and he said, "You know how it feels when you really have to pee, and then you finally get to? It's like that x5". Except there really isn't pleasure involved when girls pee... so I couldn't really relate, lol.
I thought it was an interesting description, though.

Orgasms for me usually involve what you call shocks, but usually I feel my whole body spasm repeatedly, I squirm all over the place, moan, and see stars. Muscle spasms are usually a good indicator that you have reached orgasm.

But really, if it feels fantastic, what's there to complain about? Even on those rare occasions where I do not climax during sex, I am still a very, very happy camper.

I can somehow relate to his discription, the relief you get when you finally do it, after holding in peeing for a long time kind of describes some of my orgasms too, lol. I don't get the melty feeling that you are talking about however... Maybe I do, don't know. But I do get tired and really sleepy after an orgasm sometimes.

I don't think we can really define an orgasm, I'm not sure if define is the right word, but I mean, we can't really describe what an orgasm feels or "should" like, except for that it's intense, but then again, the intensity level varies, and saying it feels good... isn't really very specific either lol. I don't suppose there is a guide book discribing how an orgasm should feel... And if there is, what about someone who doesn't get the feeling described in that "guide" but who does climax... They'd forever be thinking they still haven't achieved an orgasm because it wasn't how it was described in the book.

We can't really just put one discription of what an orgasm feels like out there, because it's different for everybody, and it's different each time. So I don't think there is a special way it's "supposed" to feel like, well I guess everyone who's ever had an orgasm knows what it's supposed to feel like, it's supposed to feel "good". But like I already said... That isn't every discriptive lol.

Orgasm is essentially described as any time your genitals feel better than the rest of you. LOL. They are characturized by muscle spasms. I don't know about it hurting after, I can go for quite a while, peaking up and slowing down and back up, I don't hurt after.

It doesn't "hurt" per say... but it is extreme sensitive to the touch, so the point where touching it any more than lightly can make it hurt.
I can build up and stop and keep going, so long as I haven't felt the shocks yet. After those come, I'm pretty much out...

hmmmm is anyone else reading this and getting the urge to go jump their partner - just in the interests of scientific research you understand LOL, but orgasms do seem to vary a lot.

I've beaten them to death so I'll just say check out some of the other threads, there are some books on sex I think are excellent that I've recommended a lot and they do talk about learning to peak and building up to be able to extend that more and more - women can generally take a lot more than men. (lucky us- and all those years they were doubting we could even orgasm!)

I posted something similar yesterday but i hope this can help. For me personally The only really amazing orgasm i've ever had only happened once and that was through clitoral stimulation. I've tried to reach that again but it is extremely difficult! But what it felt like was all my muscles spasmed up and this amazing sensation just spread over my abdominal area for about 20 seconds and i was able to ejaculate. During sex i am not 100% sure i orgasm...i feel something but not sure. They should make instruction manuals for us ladies :P
