Your Cycle, Sex Drive & Emotions

There are certain times every month that I know I am going to be insanely arroused and open to new things. I am going to be sexually liberated and these are times when I will want to watch porn with my boyfriend, don't get jealous and am an awesome gf lol.

There are times in my cycle where I become so insecure and jealous and get mad at him for every little thing he does or I just THINK he does or might do.

Then during my period I calm down, feel nothing but love again and things go back to normal...

    Until next month.

I wonder if its related to the period, it always seems to fall about a week before that I get all insatiable, then the jealousy and being irritiable come about the day before.

    Does anyone else experience similiar?

I totally understand what you are saying. Its all about your cycle. A week to a fews days before we can barly talk cause I'm speaking on an emotional level and he is not and he takes everything I say the wrong way.

In fact just the other night he was having a conversation with his friend about trust ... I was in the room so I stated he didn't trust me......... well it lit the room on fire.

I feel at 5 years we should be able to talk about what trigges and makes him not trust me and speak on deeper emotional level and not feel threatened..... he still can't. I know what triggers his insecurities as i'm sure he knows what triggers mine. We should be able to talk about it. I'm intune with my emotions I am honest with myself... I know. The worst is when he tells me how I feel. When I state how I feel. I know how I feel I know how I meant something. I dont try and tell him how he feels. He 's on meds so most of the time he has no emotions or feels that he displays.

Absolutely!!! This is so ironic that you brought this up, I was just thinking about this this morning because I should be starting my period Tues/Wed.

So last week, especially the last couple of days, I can't get enough! Today, I've mellowed out, but now I can feel my emotions starting to get a little out of whack and my breasts are starting to get tender, nipples more so. I mentioned it to DH, he kind of chuckled and asked if he needed to check into a hotel this week. Normally this wouldn't have bothered me because we laugh about it every single month, he pretty much knows to watch what he says around me when it's that time. Well, I about lost my cool with him when he said it today. I just rolled my eyes and went upstairs, turned on some music and cleaned. I don't know why it bothered me so much today, but ooohhh, it did!

Anyways, I think it completely has to do with your cycle, I go through it every month too!

Also, forgot to mention, around day 3 or so of my period, I get super super horny again for about another 4 days. Anybody else? But I don't really like having vaginal sex during my period. DH doesn't mind so much, but I don't really like it, but we do other things. But also, it's not necessarily about me being satisfied so to speak... I get immense satisfaction during that time pleasing DH. I could spend those 4 days doing nothing but give him BJ's, etc.

Maybe mentally I'm trying to make up for the previous 4 days where I'm not the nicest person to live with. I do feel sorry for him during those days, because I know I'm one hormonal ornery woman.

Lana I feel the same when it comes to pleasing during that time period!

I feel horrible for some of the things I put him through when I am so hormonal and after the dust clears I usually feel like an idiot... but in the heat of those moments I can't see or think clearly, only feel -- and feel I should say exactly whats in my hormonal crazy brain lol.

I hate it... I hate that I don't feel that way the rest of the month, and wish I had more control over it, but even if I promise myself... say to myself -- okay periods coming try not to flip out.

But then something happens, and I forget myself, and feel my being upset is justified and not just hormones... then... in a couple days I realize I overreated -- big time.

He seems to take it in stride and is very understanding. He doesn't belittle my emotions when I am feeling those ways, he just tries to comfort me (usually to no avail).

Diet can have a significant impact on your hormone levels. Check out the Woman's Advantage Diet. I always felt it didn't get the attention it should have - too many people favor drugs.

Thanks WC!! I'll check that out. I never use to suffer from any pms symptoms beside sminor cramps in my back the day before, and the horny issue a few days before and during. These off the handle emotions that hit a couple days in the cycle is totally something new to say the last 6 months, and I'm trying to think of things I've done differently that may be impacting.

I've had some increased alchohol consumption - maybe 5 glasses of wine etc.. per month where I use to have zero. I've been eating more carbs lately. I've been a vegetarian for a few years but have always watched calories and been mindful of carbs through the process and lately in the last half year or so I've been more carb consuming -- the diet may just be what I need to look into.

I pride myself in being in control of my life and my actions and having self-discipline especially when it comes to how I treat people and Its awful to wake up feeling like -- wtf was that girl who said all that stuff last night, acted like that -- that wasn't me!!!

The doctor who developed this diet determined that as our hormone levels alter through the month our bodies utilize or need different things. There are some points in our cycle when we burn the carbs more easily and other times when we are more likely to store calories (as in add fat reserves) By determining our cycle phases, which he explains how to do and adjusting our diets we can make the most out of each phase of our cycle and better regulate our weight, mood and general feeling of well being.

I'll be checking that out too WC.

I would like to think my menstrual moods have gotten better since I've been off any type of BC, but man, it sure doesn't feel like that's the case.

HD - I had to laugh at your comment of mentally prepping yourself by saying your period is coming try not to flip out... I do the exact same thing, but it never helps. As much as is sucks, at least I'm not the only one.

But I did have a light bulb on top of the head moment the other day while discussing something else with someone. I was discussing stress, difficulty sleeping, etc... I got some suggestions for those, but I'm going to attempt to see if it helps with my PMS and my moods during that time.

Lana? The start of this cycle was like that. Around day three I was super horny. It lasted about two and a half days. I normally don’t mind it but my fiance’ was out of town so he wasn’t around to “help”. I had to work long and hard using toys to satisfy myself during that time. When this happens to you, after you experience orgasm, do you also feel a mild ache? Like it wasn’t enough? That you could climax again in a matter of moments? I do.
