Anyways since i switched pills a few months ago (now on yaz) i've noticed my sex drive decreasing, my boyfriend has noticed as well and its really bugging me. I've heard that one of the side effects of the pill is a decrease in sex drive (whether or not thats true im not 100% sure). How do i make this better? any suggestions?

Hi Angel
There was an article in the New York Times on Sept 26,2009, entitled; Health Concerns Over Popular Contraceptives. It is about Yaz and it's sister drug Yasmin. You may find it interesting, it doesn't relate to sex drive but to some other side effects. I think if you do a search on here you will finds others have made the same complaint you are. -
Thanks WC im going to see if i can google that article. Im trying to figure out what i need to do, the pill i was on before yaz was fine except for the fact that i had my period for 7 days and brown discharge after that for about 3-4 days. Drove me crazy, yaz only has 4 days, i suppose thats why i changed. hmmmm tough oneComment

Lol it would be a more appropriate name thats for sure :P anyways i read that article and i found another one. The number of known side effects is shocking! I feel like im poisoning myself. I always knew there were side effects and all that but now that its starting to affect me im quite tempted to come off Yaz and go onto something else.Comment

I SWEAR that's how the pill works. I was on various pills for about 6 years and never found the right one. I finally gave up. (and feel 1000x better btw).
But myself (and my friends) all lost their sex drive on the pill. Can't get pregnant if you never want to have sex! It also made me have no energy and grumpy all the time. Can't get pregnant if you're so miserable to be around that no one will have sex with you. hahaComment

hey ladies,
so i was on yasmin. for a few years i stopped it in june 2009.
i found out that there are some pretty bad symptoms from yasmin & its sister pill Yaz.
if you have blurred vision and you see black spots in your eyes its a sign that there may be a clot forming behind your eye. also your at more of a risk for stroke, heart attack, clots in your heart & legs. breathing problems. also depression, panic attacks, also itching, burning or scaling of the skin, are signs of liver damage.. also there are some reports that women who have taken it went completely infertile. which is quite odd. like i said i took yasmin for a few years and i was experiencing really bad mirgrane headaches along with bad cramps, acne, some weight gain but not much. and now that i am off of the pill i find it hard for me to get pregnant. ive been off of it since june. and still no positive test for pregnancy. i would talk to your doctor to get your pills changed.Comment

sounds like i might just get off it, or change even. Im still young and not ready for pregnancy so taking the pill gives me that confidence i wont get pregnant but its pretty much made me feel like a different person. So that brings me to my next question, is there a pill that doesnt have as much side effects as yaz and yasmin?Comment
