Sex can be a big cause of UTI's. And they suck big time. Poor Girl!

All of the above posters are right. Drink lots of Cranberry Juice, make sure you do your best to urinate before and after sex and yes, empty your bladder fully. I do a little leaning thing. I squeeze my muscles like I'm urinating and then lean forward, backward and side to side.

You also might want to make sure your boyfriend keeps up with his hygiene. I dated a guy who I didn't use condoms with and he gave me all kinds of weird infections - no fun. In addition to that, you can pass your infections to your guy and then he can give them back to you - so you might want to abstain from having genital contact while you have an infection and make sure you get anything cleared up before you have sex again.

I had three the first year I was with my bf. Everyone here has given good advice! What I did was take cranberry pills after sex for a couple days. If you feel tingly down there, you can drink cranberry juice too to help it stop before it worsens. Now I heard that cranberry juice alone won't cure the UTI, but people have told me that they'd drink rightaway when they feel it, and it goes away.
        Hope this helps

ok I have only had 2 in my entire life. its good to make sure that before and after sex to go pee. make sure u drink plenty of water cuz soda will give u UTIs quicker then u think. but especially after sex go pee and even when u think ur done stay on the toilet for a little longer because u still have a lil bit of pee left that can hold bacteria. also go to the doc you may have something going on or could lead to something else. good luck

            Hey love
i really feel your pain, i am 20 and have been having sex for years and i never got UTI's until i started sleeping with my current bf of a year! In the last year i to have had about 6-7, i went to my doctors and got put on ALPRIM it seemed to clear them up quite quickly but then a month later i would get another one, and i to dont use condoms with my partner, so i went to the doctors again and had a kidney aultrasound and everything was all good, but these are some tips she gave me
            1. even if you dont feel like you need to pee ALWAYS go to the toilet straight after
            2. Take vitiam C
            3. The wiping front to back as well

She has also given me heaps of repeats for alprim and now when i feel im getting a UTI i just take ONE not the whole 7 day script and that usually clears it up in 3-4 hours, she also recommemded i take it as a preventative so after i have sex i have one, however i dont do that because alprim does affect the pill so BE careful if your doctor puts you on antibiotics they very well may make the pill not work for the 7 days your on it and 7 days after, thats a lot of time to get pregnant so use other forms of contraception.

Hope this helps and you get better soon
as for the mum stuff i totally know whta you mean everytime i tell mum ive got a new on she gives me that "look" lol

              HOPE THIS HELPS!
I used to get UTIs after sex all the time! I know how it feels, my hubby and I were too scared to have sex as it would always result in me going to the doctors and getting prescribed yet another dose of antibiotics! We'd do everything- shower before and after sex, I'd drink water and pee before and after, we made sure we didn't have rough sex, and we'd keep it shortl. These measures would help to an extent, but didn't really stop the UTIs recurring every now and then!
Then one time, we went away for a holiday for 3-4 days. We had sex every morning at around 6-7am (as always, following the same good hygiene stuff mentioned above!) I never got UTIs!!!
We came back from our holiday, and over the next couple of months, had sex during the morning/daytime, all was good. Until one time, when we did it at night. Lo and behold, the UTI came back!!!!!! I was taking antibiotics the very next day, frustrated and confused.
It then dawned upon us that having sex in the morning allowed enough time to flush out the bacteria in the urine, as one pees throughout the day!
Unlike at night, when the urine and bacteria accumulates for hours when you go to sleep, resulting in another UTI attack!!!
Since we knew this, we've only had sex in the morning, with no problems.
Also eating well is very important, I try and stay away from sugar (any form of it, including too many fruits), and packaged foods.
I hope this helps. Noone really tells us things like this, the doctors just keep giving antibiotics which is only a short term solution.
