I can remember masterbating since I was about 3 years old and still took naps in the middle of the day, and have been doing it ever since. It IS normal. I don't have many memories from when I was THAT young, but I can remember from age 6 I was definitely attempting to masturbate. I remember fantasizing about sex long before I started masturbating (I think I started that around 8-9). It's hard to recall the exact year, but I remember involving toys and dolls in sex stories (in my head) and I felt very good. I even drawn my own porn-cartoons at a pre-teen age. I don't think I had the chance to explore masturbation before turning 8, considering I lived in a small apartment with my family at the time and didn't have my own room.

Apparently it's very common for children to be sexual. For some reason many parents choose to pretend that this isn't true. Somehow sex = loss of "innocence" for a lot of people but... it's just a healthy, natural thing.

Actually, a lot of girls that age masturbate unknowingly... It's more of an issue of nervousness at that age where girls will initially do it because of the situation but not for the outcome. I know it sounds a little weird but it's a coping mechanism for some.

I've a few friends that are teachers and they're they ones that introduced me to this idea.

Children can be very sexual/sensual, that isn't the same thing as having sex. They naturally want to do things that feel good. Social conventions and religions have used that to induce guilt to point of creating frigidity and a sense wrongness about what is one of our strongest drives.

Oh my gosh I thought I was the only one! I remember being in preschool and doing it. I would do it the same way, lying on my tummy. and my mum stopped me too, I did not reliase what I was really doing or why it was bad.
