Women are meant to have some fat, even if just in the breasts ... I think it has something to do with breeding some rugrats and having the back up stores to nourish them during pregnancy and infancy. Thats why its acceptable for Women to have a body fat percentage of 24% or less for a fit body and men are supposed to have 17% or less for a fit body. Male athletes can have a body fat percentage as low as 6% and still be in the healthy range where as for women they don't reccomend being at a body fat percentage below 14%.

Typically men have higher metabolisms and gain muscle faster (all that testosterone!). Women have a bone structure that has wider hips than men do but how wide varies, how and where a woman collects fat is based on genetics and lifestyle and because of the varients in breast size (especially now with implants and reductions being options) and various levels of body size there are hundreds of body types of women. Small breasts/big butt/small waist - Big breasts/small butt/small waist- small breasts/small butt/small waist - large breasts/ large waists/ large butt -- etc etc... then factor in whether the body is lean, "fluffy" , or muscular etc...

Maybe thats why men don't get bored of looking at women because there are just so many subtle differences to major differences in body size alone let alone the specifics.

I strongly disagree with the personality type connection to body shape. I've been every size under the sun, including WELL-beyond the voluptuousness of Kim K, to slim with curves a la Eva Mendes (no where near like her, but she's the closest to the examples you mention) and I will say that male attention towards me has grown as I've shrunk. I prefer having a slender body type because I feel more confident because people treat me like they see me, like they want to know me and when I was overweight I felt invisiable and I'm guessing some may just have those pre-concieved notions of what someone is like based on their body shape... and its pretty sad.

For me personally, I find all female body types attractive, but I prefer the natural meat on a toned body like a Eva over the rail thin Megan fox's any day. They toot their booties out in photos to make them appear to have some shape for maxim etc... but in reality theres nothing to squeeze on!
Scars remind us of where we've been...they don't have to dictate where we're going.

This is so true... That's why this poll has made me chuckle. Naturally, as not to offend, people are going to say that they don't care so as not to appear shallow. But the skinnier you are, the more attention you get. For those of us who have been every size under the sun, it is spoken from experience.

Maybe to a certain point. Complete skin and bones isn't the sexiest thing either, hence my joke about ten year old boys.

I think you both bring up an obvious empirical counterpoint. But I think that each person has their own natural body type.

Not many woman can have the thickness of a Kim Kardashian and still look so luscious. Many people who have that degree of thickness look over weight and that's not really the same thing.

I almost always see something I admire when I glance at a woman. When I'm admiring a larger woman, I wonder to myself if she is comfortable with the person she is. When I allow eye contact to give her a smile or a friendly head-nod, more often than not I see self consciousness in her face/eyes. Maybe I'm seeing it wrong. I guess what I'm trying to say is; I'm not convinced that everyone has the ability to hide their self consciousness about themselves when it comes to the clothes they wear, to the expression on their face. Think of how sensitive you are and how well you can read someone from a distance. I think you could read a man probably very well.

Admittedly, I know you're right... On the flip side, this would mean that more shallow guys will approach the thinner woman than the thicker woman. Kinda sounds like a double-edged sword, really. Kinda sounds like exterior beauty can be a curse for women sometimes.

Body type doesn't matter nearly as much to me as fit and toned, with the added bonus that a woman who is happy with her body will typically carry herself with a confidence that is very appealing.

A woman should look like one!...in my opinion anyways, HAVE CURVES something to bump in the bed ...healthy , nice butt from sports/being active and boobs are more of a bonus to me...enjoy them but not essential. i like nice hips and legs on a big or skinny girl.

Some good responses, people. Just a reminder this is about "preference" not "I only like this or that type". My preference is voluptuous but that doesn't mean I don't find a skinny girl who is very self confident with a good personality to be less attractive than a voluptuous women who has low self esteem and is a b*&%^. Basically I am saying if you show me body shapes in a photo line up and told me to choose, a Kim type women wins, whether she carry's it in the same manner as her or not.

I just read something interesting yesterday--it was about "why men lust for an hourglass figure"--they did a study that showed that women with a smaller ratio of waist to breasts/hips have an average of 30% more of the hormone 17-b-estradiol which is an indicator of fertility (and also higher progesterone levels). In other words, the women with the higher percentage of the hormone would be three times more likely to get pregnant than women with other body types.

Studies are funny and who knows? But it would make sense that some sort of biology is involved with preferences for body shapes, would it not?

And I would assume they were only looking at ratios, so a woman could be very curvy *or* thin and still have the higher levels of the hormones, as long as their breasts and hips were larger in proportion to the waist.
