HAHA all that repression.. yeah there was a time when people swore by that on a large scale... its called the dark ages. if this isn't a joke, please don't proselytize your personal beliefs to everyone on the forum. Bad things happen when you repress your sexuality, look at all of the priests accused of sexual abuse. BTW a lot of wars have happened and many people have died in the name of faith, way more than from sex. Please don't tell me that my sexuality is doing any kind of wrong in the world, its very offensive. I have a lot more i would like to say, but I will stop here.Comment

I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.
...
Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?
From a speech by Patrick Henry on March 23, 1775 at St. John's Church, Richmond, VirginiaComment

Well, to give a serious reply . . . . I would imagine that people who make the "procreation only" argument also believe in traditional family values, are against divorce, etc. So procreation isn't just about making the baby but raising, teaching, and providing for the child within the context of the family, according to this outlook.
Well, frequent sex helps keep the relationship strong and makes the family stronger. It's no accident that the few days of fertility are relatively hard to spot in women and that women are open to sex even when they aren't fertile, unlike most other animals. It helps cement the relationship.
My fiance and I aren't in a position to have children yet--still working on our degrees/careers and don't have much money. But we have sex quite often (even though I take a little bitty pill every night but don't tell the "procreationists," hehe) because not only is it fun--it brings us closer together and makes our relationship stronger every time we have sex, so that when we do start making babies, we'll be all the more prepared to handle it.Comment

We're designed to have a lot of sex. Choosing to make every sexual encounter one that has a chance to produce offspring is the wrong direction with the population rising. We don't have kids at 13 as often as we did 1000 years ago, so why not take a smart step towards contraception. Our survival isn't at risk, but our sexual health sure can be!Comment
