Hello Ladies, I need your help. I have just recently started dating this guy, who I feel is finally the right guy for me. However, I asked him to come over this weekend cause it was my birthday and I wanted him to spend the weekend with me. Friday when he came over, I started my period early, 3 days early to be exact. I felt kinda stupid, cause when we got into bed and started going at it, but I had to stop and tell him, that I had gotten my period earlier than expected and that I wasn't in to intercourse. So to make up for it, I gave him a hand job and oral, but I felt kinda stupid and guilty, cause I wanted to have full on sex with him, but not while I was on the rag. Is this normal, to not want to have full on intercourse while menstruating? Or should I have done it anyway?

Having Sex while menstrating?

I think its normal to not want to have sex with him while on your period. Why wouldn't it be? We're bleeding and we don't usually feel really sexy during that time, so its okay that you didn't go all the way. How did the guy you were with feel about it? Was he still willing to have sex with you even though you were on it? Personally I don't like to do it when I'm on mine cause I just feel nasty, but thats just me though, I guess if your comfortable with it and the guy doesn't mind it won't hurt to do it.Last edited by miserable mom; 07-02-2007, 10:29 AM. -
If you didn't feel like having sex then there was no reason for you to have sex. Now if the only reason you didn't want to have sex was because you were bleeding and felt like it was "gross" then that was not a good reason. Sure, sex whilst on your period can be a little messy, but nothing some towels and a shower won't fix, and a lot of women say they like to have sex on the rag because it helps with cramps. There is nothing wrong with having sex while you are on your period. It is all personal preference, if you just don't feel sexy or in the mood then there is nothing wrong with saying no; but if you are horny, go for it! It'll make you feel better.
Try it in the shower, that way you don't have to worry about clean-up.

It's perfectly fine to not want to have sex on your period. But if you did you should see if he's comfortable with it. I've had a couple guys that are perfectly ok with having sex with me on my period. No qualms, no worried. Just lay down a towel or do it in the shower. But if you did not want to then that is your decision and that is fine.Comment

There's no harm in sex while you're on your period, in fact it can really help the cramps! Obviously it's good manners to warn the gentleman you are with. It hasn't bothered any of my boyfriends one bit, I just let them know that I'm not very vegetarian this week.
Naturally it's up to you - if you feel yukky then there is no reason why you have to do it.Comment

With something like this, it really comes down to what works for you. If you don't feel sexy and don't like the resulting mess from intercourse during your period, then there's no reason you should feel obliged to go through with it. There's certainly no reason why you should feel stupid for not wanting sex and that goes for any situation, by the way; not just because of your period.Comment

Consider this:
If you choose not to have sex on your period and you are bleeding one week out of every month, that is 25% of every year that you would not be having sex. Thats 3 months out of a year!
As many have said, having sex during you period can help with cramps. Not to mention that the vagina is much more sensitive during this time.
I personally enjoy having sex on my period.
Also, I would like to add that you should never feel "guilty" about not having sex with someone in a situation like this, or for any reason.
Furthermore; I feel that if my partner doesnt want to give me any action because I am on my period, then he wont be getting any from me either. Sex is a two way street...or something.Comment

I used to feel that sex during your period was a little gross, but not anymore! I just don't have it on my heaviest day. But sometimes I am extra horny when I'm on the rag, and it's kind of fun! The shower is a perfect idea! My husband doesn't get grossed out-he's usually so horny he could care less!!Comment
