I think your question is a valid one spurzzz. Why would it be silly to go out with a girl of the same race as you, if the OP believes that their perception is that all Asian men are small in that department, when white woman as well, may believe the same...

In Australia OP, Melbourne particularily but also Adelaide, there is a good percentage of Asian people whom were "born" here, as well as coming over here when only a child, large proportion. That makes them Australian, so do you see them as Australian or Asian?

Assuming that Asian decent women are as up with things as others, why would they then want to go out with Asian men if length is so important? Assumptions that length makes a difference are silly IMO.

What a great question. I suppose that is down to individual beliefs and perceptions. Of course these beliefs vary according to ones background and experiences. It also comes down to their actions. For example an Asian person who was born in Australia but speaks Chinese, eats Chinese always and generally stays within the culture regularly visiting China but lives in Australia......works here and there but doesn't really contribute to the state......

But then who's to say what is right and what is wrong. He may say he is Australian end of. Others say he is not. As JNS says we are all entitiled to our opinions so where does the line get drawn for an opinion to be morally justifiable.....

I can tell you at least here in Adelaide, if I walk down Gouger Street, where China Town is, I will see a male and a female holding hands walking together of the same nationality - Asian... I also see alot of "older Australian men" with an Asian lady and child... If I get into a taxi it is generally an Indian man driver, talking with him, the lady is home and he is furthering his career studying, whilst driving taxi's and she is Indian.

Yet Australians don't view in my opinion race at all, we love culture full stop... There you see all sorts of mixed couples, although I have to say Greeks and Italians tend to also marry into their own Nationalities.

I am also against comments such as "nup no way that race not for me"...That is sterio type... What ever happened to "the person"....

Why not? This post seems like a Troll to me. Im sorry but that comment is ridiculous.....

This post is all about making fun out of asian people.

Why do people think its fun to post such drivel is beyond me....
I mean it as like, JUST going for asians, and trust me im not trying to make fun of my own people, i would just like to get a better understanding since theres a lot of on the internet.

I think i'm not making it clear enough for you guys, sorry, what i mean by silly for just going after my race is how in some cultures (mine) its actually an embarrassment if you have a relationship with an "outsider". Please understand i'm not trying to offend the people of Australia and neither am i trying to accuse them of being racist or anything.

              spurzzz
              Nope Jns:

He did not clarify why he said it was silly thats why I asked him. To say its silly? What does that mean............ .
Hey umm well what i mean by silly is for example, my parents have always wanted me to go for Chinese girls, because somehow theyre ALL smarter, and i want to have the perfect smart chinese typical family. But the truth is i like to be more open, i dont care what race theyre from, and i dont see why in some cultures they'll be so narrow-minded with "only breeding within your own culture". Hope you understand now

Thanks Chandlers Wish for your insight, but the truth is there will always be a seperation between different races, for example in Sydney (where i come from) there are many regions where there are large numbers of similar nationalities, we have some areas here where there will be large numbers of Middle Eastern, Asians and White. Now you probably dont know this place but oh well, its a Suburb called Hurstville, you will literally get fan pages etc saying "oh ye i live in China, lol jk i live in Hurstville" because that is where heaps and heaps of asians have located to. Most of the stores outside of the Westfield are just asian stores. Many Greeks, Italians, Masos and Lebanese people will hang out in their own group, not often let in Asians although i have a couple friends from that group. Then there will be pacific people who will often hang out with their own kind, including Phillipinos.

And what I'd just like to say those who said that people who were born in Aus are Aussies, well the truth is that doesnt change what you look like, if you've come from a Chinese Background, Native Background, Pacific Background, Caucasian background etc you will often be recognised for that. They won't think of you as another ordinary Australian, instead they'll think your whatever you are, especially if your not caucasian

Anyways what i mean is, there are often people who will reject certain races, and as a young adult trust me, I'd get comments from like a South Eastern friend and she'd be like, "nah i wouldnt go out with asians" for no reason, confusing aye. Once i stumbled upon this Italian guy, it always seemed like he was into this asian chick, and when we had a talk and asked him, he was all like "No way dude, im totally into my own people" Not sure why.

Sorry i blabbered on and this probably doesnt make any sense, but thanks for the replies.

Onlymaytherebehappiness, I can relate to what you are saying, because I have seen a lot of the same as Los Angeles is a big melting pot, also. I know that their are not as many couples of an Asian guy and a Caucasian girl, but there are enough, at least here. I know a British girl who married a Thai guy in Thailand and they have a family together. To be fair I know many more couples where the guy is Caucasian and the woman is Asian.

In Los Angeles County there are about 350,00 people of Chinese decent; 270,000 of Filipino decent; 200,000 of Korean decent; 120,000 of Japanese decent, 80,000 of Vietnamese decent and 120,000 of other Asian decent including Thai, Cambodian, Lao, Burmese, Malaysian, Indonesian, Singaporean and others (from city-data). This is not even counting the South Asians. This means there are a lot of interactions between peoples and a lot of mixing.

One of the points that has to be taken into consideration is the absorption and appreciation of the others culture when marrying cross-culture. During a traditional marriage, what you do is dictated by how you are supposed to honor your parents and your spouse's parents. This can lead to misunderstandings. Therefore, for parents, it is often more comfortable for the children to marry within their ethnic group or at least not too far out of it. If you do end up in a cross-culture relationship that leads to marriage, hopefully find yourself someone who appreciates and learns about your cultural roots.

Thanks Jns, I've noticed throughout these years, theres been a lot of mixing of races. And yea i agree, in many cultures they have their own 'ways'. Luckily i'm not a girl, all i know is, if i were to get with a Caucasian guy, my parents would disagree, not because they are racist, but they find many Caucasian men unreliable, especially with the fact that in Aus, many families struggle with finance so yea. But my parents are cool with me getting a different girl than Asian if i want, as long as she doesnt look bad or isnt like greatly unintelligent LOL.

Anyways i'm pretty sure if i get a White girl she'll be happy, there's a tradition where the guests have to give money to the couple, so she'll be probably be excited. Well i suppose not HAVE to but it's tradition just for the sake for paying off wedding fees, helping out to kickstart a new family. Theres some quite fancy weddings out there, its funny coz at my cousins wedding, his mother brought like 20 of her own friends. Crazy, ton of people=ton of food, tables=ton of money for services etc

Anyways thanks again for sharing your knowledge bout this

Just keep in mind that the wedding is the beginning not the whole deal. Being happy in a relationship more than a good party!
