Try both cowgirl and reverse cowgirl to find something that is good for him and good for you at the same time. There are some girl on top sideways positions, too. Some require a rope from the ceiling or some other form of support.

Question: why would girl on top feel unnatural when he's guiding the action but OK when you're moving up and down? The mechanics and geometry (angles, shape of his stick and your hole haven't changed). It might be a matter of perception alone.

Are you staying upright or leaning forward? Try leaning fwd so yr bodies are parallel, weight supported on your elbows of hands and just move your hips.

When I first lost my virginity, I was on top. I was on top the first 3 times.
The second time is when we really did it. In the back of his car and I sat on his lap facing him. Since I was knew to it, it hurt anyway. But my boyfriend did they same thing and went back and forth and it hurt soooo bad! So you are not alone, my dear! Even when we do it today, months later, and he makes me go back and forth, it still hurts pretty bad! I know he likes it, so I let him do it a little, but it does hurt pretty bad.
