Is this normal for sex life?

Okay, well. My boyfriend and I have been together since well, toddlers almost, we started having sex around the time we hit 15, knowing that we were really close and comfortable with each other. (Save judgement.)

Anyway, we're 19 now, we're engaged, we go to top colleges, we live together, and we're pretty set, happy, and well off with life, well, was. We used to have a pretty fiery sex drive, being the age we were and all. But now I'm changing, and it's affecting not only our sex life but, our once-was healthy relationship.

I've been less inclined to get sexual with him, and just in general. It's been going on for a little over a year now. But the biggest problem is that despite my obvious slow down with it all, he hasn't changed. He tries all the time and I just can't get in the mood for it. Sometimes I force myself to because, well, I feel bad for having to deny him all the time despite his constant efforts.

I have no problem masturbating by myself, but when it comes to doing something him.. I don't know. I just don't feel like it. I fantasize about it, so I know it's not me just not wanting him, I think. But every time he tries or pushes it.. I just get so uninterested. It's come to a point where hes almost given up on trying, each time I deny him he just gets sad. Which I don't want him to be sad, I don't what him to have to try to begin with.

Basically I just can't get in the mood enough to actually go for anything other then masturbating here and there. And it's really starting to complicate my relationship.

I'm just not sure if this is even normal for my age because I am young, but right now I feel like such an old unhappy cranky woman.

Anyway! Due to the extreme lack of womanly companionship in my life, I figured I might need advice from somewhere like here.

(Though, please save lectures about age or my life or anything else that might possibly come up. I'm comfortable with my life and how it's gone so far. Exploring and making mistakes along the way is what helps all of us grow, it's not always being careful and staying on the "right path" or being afraid to make the possible mistakes others have made. It's not about wanting to "grow up" or always have in the back of your mind that you still have years ahead, it's about now. Falling hopelessly in love and ****ing up and thinking you have everything you want, then doing it all over again with someone else. Mistakes happen, we're all stupid, we're all young, we're all reckless, and it's life. So please, save any trolling remarks or lectures about life for someone else like minded who thinks life needs to happen perfectly. /rantforanypossiblerants.)

All women go through phases. I'm currently in a down swing myself, actually. It bothers my husband a bit, but we've talked about it, and he understands that it's just something I'm going through right now. He's allowed to masturbate, but it's just not the same to him as sex (which, makes sense). Have you two talked about it? Are you on birth control? Are you stressed from school? There are tons of factors that can play into a lack of sex drive. I find that if I'm not in the mood, sometimes him just loving me and giving me a back rub is enough to put me into a more giving mood. What does he do as foreplay?

Is the rest of your relationship ok? I know that if my boyfriend and I are going through a rough patch it usually effects what we do (or don't do) in the bedroom.

If the relationship is ok otherwise, has anything changed in your life? Stress levels, such as end of term exams, health issues, etc? Stress certaily can effect your interest in sex.

Rosekitten is also right about foreplay. When my boyfriend takes the trouble to get me in the mood beforehand--everything from bringing me flowers to giving me oral sex--I always want, and enjoy, intercourse a lot more.

Maps, it sounds like your bf is taking you for granted so you are ambivalent about having sex with him. While masturbating, you go back to when he was more thoughtful and thus you get turned on. Have a talk with him and tell him he has to romance you, but not be too obvious about it.
