    Gingko Biloba for Libido Problems

I've been trying to explain why my libido changed substantially last year. Part of it was definitely changing my meds. But I never thought that was .the only reason. Browsing the boards last night I found a possible corollary in a closed thread. Namely, Gingko Biloba.

Last spring/summer I started to take that herb to help with memory issues related to AD/HD. Not too long after that my libido started to improve. Over the years I'd had a relatively spotty libido. Since the Gingko and changing my meds my libido has been stable.

Hmm.... did you research this before trying? I've never looked into Gingko Biloba before. I thought it could be used for "weight loss" but I never believe that humbo jumbo.

Ginkgo biloba extract facilitates blood flow, influences nitric oxide systems, and has a relaxant effect on smooth muscle tissue. That is why there is talk about it improving sexual functioning. The only research on this issue showed that there was no positive impact of taking the ginkgo. But this was one study with a small sample size. At this time there isn't enough proof to say whether is works or not.

Welcome to "natural" science. You will be able to find benefits on websites that are conveniently selling a so called "powerful" herbal supplement or extract and then if you search a real research website you will get results that say words like "more studies are needed", "potential", "not conclusive", "could have benefits", "no indication of benefits" etc. Basically you are buying a placebo in a lot of these supplement and extract cases. Not that it is a bad thing to have a placebo effect, but gingko really is not going to harm you or anything as long as you do not buy it from some shady online source lol.
