yes, because your partner may have contracted something from previous partners. Also, there are STDs you can get from other contacts like blood transfussions, IV needles, etc. People also can define sex differently. So your partner says they are a virgin, never had a blood transfussion and never used drugs. But what if they had oral sex? They could technically still be a virgin and could have gotten an STD. Its always safer to use a condom.Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose - Kris Kristofferson and Fred Foster (sung by Janis Joplin) -

STD by definition are diseases transmitted between two people through sexual activity/contact.
Many of them can lay dormant in a 'carrier' for years without their knowledge or yours and then get transferred from one partner to another.
If you have only one partner and they claim/state that you are their only partner, I would suggest you both go and get tested together for all STDs.
If he is who he says he is, assuming you are female, he should have no problem with it. If he refuses, that's something else completely and should be a huge red flag - IMO.
I have been with the same partner for years (we are not married or living together) and we get checked on a regular basis together. Safe is ALWAYS better than sorry!Comment
