If you mean initial penetration as in when he breaks the hymen; then absolutely yes. Our first couple of times we went slow and sensual. Like I had said; it's tender down there and it's something new that it hasn't experienced. And if your man is well endowed, he needs to be delicate with you, watch your reactions and see if you're starting to feel pain, or if it just feels "wrong".
You have to remember it's made up of muscles down there, the more that it's use to being penetrated; the more it'll open up. That's why foreplay is good, it helps to loosen you up, get you lubricated; then penetration is much easier and enjoyable. Also if you go weeks or months without sex, it'll tighten up down there because nothing is being inserted to widen it.
Depth is something that's based on each woman. I'm the type of woman who likes the "full feeling". I like when he goes all the way in. And he enjoys teasing me; he'll fill me up and stay there a few moments, then slowly pull back and go back in; repeating the process. He also likes the tight feeling so I do a lot of kegels to stay tight. I enjoy my cervix being hit. For some women it causes excruciating pain. For some women they only like deep penetration depending on the position and the angle. You'll learn what works for you, just go slow. Don't let him ram you like a jackhammer to try something out.
For your first time I advise a lot of foreplay; touch, kiss, caress, suckle; find what turns you on. And remember those key points to your body, that way you two know what to go to, to help you loosen up, enjoy yourself. It all takes time, you'll learn to shut your head up and just enjoy him and yourself. People write numerous books on sex, so it's nothing that will be mastered in one night. That's a part of the fun; exploring. Explore yourself, explore him.Comment

everyone is different..
i had been with my then bf for about 1.5years when we had sex. I had done everything else at that point: kissing, masturbation (mutual),and oral sex. One day we were home alone, got naked, started kissing heavily and rubbing (he was on top). and this may sound weird but.. it just went in!.. (maybe because of lubrication or..???) we were both virgins so had not planned it & did not know what we were doing. I commented that this "felt different" and we realised that it was in & we were having sex. He was not small or large really (if thats what ur thinking).. probably about average for a 19yr old.. we were really good with communication so we talked about what felt good as we went and i thought it was great.. strangely enough I had an orgasm?!.. Sadly for him he didnt.. but this made me feel weird after as I was meant to hurt and bleed and be sore etc etc.. Maybe im one of the lucky ones, but I just thinkin when ur ready ur ready & remember everyone is different!Comment

I had sex for the first time about a month ago with my boyfriend. He had been with one other virgin before me and so reminded me before "the first time will hurt a girl, so don't expect too much right away." -- we were both pleasantly surprised.
Before sex we did a fair amount of foreplay in which he inserted his fingers into me. We had been doing that for quite a while and so I kinda expected that's what sex would feel like. It's not, a penis is is much larger than fingers.
He went very slowly at first. I had never seen him fully naked before and so was surprised at the size of his penis.
There was a bit of pain. Maybe like something very tight was stretching. I told him "owe that hurts!" And so he went slower. It took about 3-5 seconds of pain though to start feeling very very good!
He kept asking how I was feeling and soon I was telling him out of breathe "it's good, just go harder!"
I also keep laughing during sex. I don't know if most people do this or not....
I think I must have had a hymen because I did bleed a little, but he did say that he couldn't feel it, so perhaps I lost it during sports sometime before!
I really did enjoy the first time, but looking back I know that that was not amazing sex... It got soo much better.

My bf and I tried to have sex last night but we failed. We did a lot of forplay and use lube. I expect the pain will be minimum but when he started to push in, feel like the tight vagina started to stretch a bit with pain and very quicky stretch until it limit and unable to stretch further. Started to hurt a lot even he said the head not in yet, I am scared and ask him to stop.Comment

mitan, probably the pain made you clench your muscles and thus made it very hard for him to go further. Relaxing is one of the keys to having fun with sex. That goes for both. Don't give up. You both are going about it right. Is it possible he wasn't at the right angle? If so, guide him in.I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.

Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?
