I think that with a lot of modern hysterectomies they're more careful to leave the ovaries intact. I don't know if your wife is having hers removed or not, but if they can leave them, they do. Her sexual drive and function shouldn't go away. Even if they have to remove the ovaries there are hormone treatments. I think a lot of it in that case depends on whether or not she's had menopause.

I wish you the best. I can't imagine what I'd be going through. My wife has had some procedures too and I was a nervous wreck, but tried to keep it cool for her.

I had a hysterectomy many years ago when I was 35. I wasn’t going to have any more children so in that respect I didn’t have any regrets or second thoughts about having it done. As a matter of fact I remember saying to several of my girl friends that “God should know, when you are not having anymore children, and you should never have to have a period again.”
I can tell you that having a hysterectomy with or without having the ovaries removed, has NO IMPACT UPON A WOMAN’S SEX DRIVE UNLESS SHE WANTS IT TO. In other words, the orgasms don’t go away, the desire doesn’t go away, the feeling wanting or needing sex doesn’t go away.
The most important sex organ in your body, very often is the mind and takes place in the brain and determines what the body does or doesn’t want.
Additionally, many women have an increased sex drive following their hysterectomy because the probability of getting pregnant is nil.
That which we forget may as well never really happened.

Usually a man's sex drive will be reduced from castration, AFAIK. Reconstructive surgery will make it so you feel complete. Note that this solution is non-reversible. Wait to see if the surgery causes her to lose her sex drive before implementing a solution.

I have a friend that had to have a testicle removed about 20 years ago and it was replaced with an artificial replacement. I've never heard that there was any problem after that time.

I don't think that a full hysterectomy is necessarily analogous to castration. It can be "full" and still leave the ovaries.

Stillness, I never said it was. I looked at the original post and saw a guy trying to match his wife's sex drive or lack there of. I tried to come up with a solution for him, not her.

I see. No worries, brother. I misunderstood.

My wife sex drive increase after her hers was done. She had a full as well, because she had stage 4 endometriosis. So they took her ovaries too. I was concerned because she was only 31 and the time. Now she enjoys sex more because before the procedure sex actually hurt her. Now there is no pain, so she want it more now then before. So just hang in there and wait to see what happens.
