    Boyfriend & Sex Troubles

Hi I'm new here, really need some advice ladies!

I'm 23 and my boyfriend is 24, we've been in a serious relationship for almost a year now and are expecting a baby in early spring! We love each other a lot and have a great life together, but our sex life is driving me crazy...

I have always been more sexual. I could have sex everyday with him. Anytime I've been in a committed relationship and could openly love and trust that person, sex is a blast and it's the one thing I feel that can bring us the closest. If I don't have feelings for someone or am unhappy with them/can't trust them... sex is kind of a nightmare. So I know I'm not addicted to sex... I'm addicted to passion and love with one person.

My boyfriend and I started out fine sexually, we lived about an hour apart, so it wasn't everyday... but it was almost every time we'd see each other (which was generally all weekend long and maybe once during the week). Well, then I got pregnant and he moved down here to be with me. Our relationship itself is honestly very great and I couldn't ask for a better guy. He's caring, understanding, and tries to go out of his way everyday to show me he loves me. He helps out around here a lot, and he puts me first before anyone else... finally a guy who matches my own definition of love and commitment!

But our sex life is really affecting me. He has never been the pushy guy with it. From the beginning I noticed that, but he told me he's not used to be forward with girls sexually. We've talked about our pasts with sex. He had been with one other girl whom he was seriously dating for 2 years. She never wanted sex and would reject him of it when he'd try... It would happen once a month at most... I guess it stung to hear that. I've known about it since we were just getting to know each other before we got serious... but the fact that he was hurt that she never wanted it and he actually tried... and here I am... having to initiate EVERY time!

It's not that he isn't getting any affection or praise daily... the guy is spoiled! I even try to get him to want me by giving him head... but then he'll just finish and I'm left again unsatisfied. He doesn't even go down on me, been maybe a few times he has and it wasn't long enough for it to even turn me on. He will touch me but he doesn't invest time in my body like I do his... I like seeing that he feels good and that he is enjoying himself... it turns me on watching him! It seems like it'd be the same and he'd want to get me to that point
Our sex positions are always the same two. Him on top, me on top. I've told him we need to mix it up sometimes, and the positions I like, he goes soft and I have to play with him again. It's just exhausting and I feel like it shouldn't be this difficult... as it wasn't with a couple guys in my past.

Like I said, I could have sex daily... and I feel bad for even trying for it daily. He gets into it and enjoys it a lot when we do... but he never initiates it and it makes me feel like I am gross and especially me being pregnant now... I need that extra self esteem booster even more so because I don't feel very pretty and I'm emotional.

We have talked about it, a few fights now actually... I cry when we fight about it because I am hurting. I want to feel wanted... and I can't help but bring up "Sorry I'm not your ex, maybe if I was, you'd actually want to ********** me!" and he then gets super mad and tells me that isn't the situation. He's used excuses like "well your body is different right now with being pregnant and I'm afraid to hurt you"... to "I don't want you to feel like I am just after sex if I try to initiate things, that's why I don't". And each time of me explaining why both of those feelings he has are not a reason to be concerned, he says he feels better and will change things because it's not fair for me to feel like this.... then nothing changes! They are just excuses... sorry, but they are.

I am tired of bringing the topic up, and I'm becoming quite embarrassed with myself... and I really don't think I should be...

It's not that I am fat, or unattractive... I've never had a problem getting a guy when I wanted a boyfriend, not to toot my own horn but I've always had a fair amount of guys who I could pick from.

I've asked my boyfriend if he watches porn a lot. He says a couples times that I haven't been home but only because he was bored. I don't think it's a porn addiction though, because I am home much more than him, and generally if he wants to watch it, we will watch it together and that's every once in while.

I just don't know what to do. He's mentioned that maybe we aren't sexually compatible and it's something we will have to work on over time... It just hurts... I get so angry when girls at my work talk about their marriages and relationships like it's dreadful that they are desired by their guys... "uhg he works days now, so hes home every night expecting something, no way!"... I have to seriously hold back tears. I've told my boyfriend this and of course he feels bad... but he doesn't know what the issue is or how to fix it... he's told me in the past that he wants it a lot but doesn't think to pursue it... I call b.s!

    Any advice? I need it!

Was this going on before you were pregnant? Some men are very funny about that - all sorts of complicated psychology of mother / lover, Madonna / sex symbol etc.

I'm not saying that there isn't a problem - there is, just trying to see if the above could be the cause.

The only thing that comes to mind after reading your post is that you should NEVER apologize for your sex drive, assuming you don't have a real illness associated with it, and it sounds like you're just a normal woman who likes, wants and needs sex. If he has issues with an ex that cause him to go limp at times, that shouldn't stop him going to work on you in other ways, so his issue is probably in his head if he doesn't want to do that either.

Masturbation could be your key to happiness here, at least until he gets his groove back. I highly recommend it.

Thanks Jen, nice to be able to openly talk about this and have an honest and blunt response. I never have been ashamed until I have gotten into relationships where I have a higher sex drive.

He texted me all day at work asking what's wrong and I told him I'm tired of talking about it because it just embarrasses me and doesn't change the situation.
I do masterbate a lot... Everyday whenever I get antsy so I don't have to bug him... It just feels a bit wrong... I want to feel wanted by him, I want him to enjoy and want to please me too. Like I said in my OP; I enjoy touching him and giving him head because I love him and seeing him happy makes me happy but it just feels so **** one sided.

I just don't know how else to talk about it, it's a shame this is such a big deal to me because we really so have an amazing relationship otherwise. He said in a text today "it does matter because I love you to death and I'm doing everything I can to make you happy" and from most angles, he is but my love language isn't strong in those other areas as much as physical... I need to feel desired and wanted...

Cheating will never happen, it wouldn't solve anything because I crave HIS body and affection... No one else's. So I don't worry about that... I just feel pained to accept this for the rest of my life.

I'm thinking of just backing off... Ive done it before for a few days and ended up caving in... I shouldn't have to deprive myself but I need to feel wanted by him

Rcoryus, I'm not sure if it was as noticeable before I got pregnant; as we lived an hour apart and we didn't see each other daily... But I have noticed it here and there from the beginning. I've asked if me being pregnant has changed anything and he said no... I'm sure it has in some ways; he's very attentive to my pregnancy and protective, always helps me down stairs, carries heavy things, rubs my feet and back a lot, reads his dad to be book a lot, ect. So I'm sure he has more respect for my body now that baby is in there... But our sex isn't too different than it was before, maybe not as rough but things seem the same. He mentioned tonight while reading that dad book how they mention sex a lot, and said something along the lines of "it's a bit ridiculous how much they bring up sex in this book, you can't tell me most guys need it that much. 6 weeks for recovery, big deal" and it really threw me off. Maybe no sex for that long will show him how it feels, I'll have my little girl to coo over and it'll distract me for a bit longer I'm sure... Maybe it's what he needs.

rc is right about some men being funny about pregnancy. Some men are also funny in the same way when their woman is with an infant.

Others aren't that way. I usually find a pregnant woman to be sexier in a way. Maybe it's because of all the changes caused by the extra hormones in her.

Well unfortunately (and it's sad to have to say this) I have been more horny since I got pregnant. People often believe the sex drive dips due to being pregnant but a lot of girls go through what I am... He told a friend of his at work that it hasn't been like that with me, because his friends wife isn't wanting any at all... The guy said "oh wow, you're so lucky!"... Course I fall in love with the guy who doesn't fully understand how lucky he really is.

Stop that! It's not sad that you're horny and pregnant, it's awesome! Any time you start thinking of your sex drive or sexuality or horniness from this moment forward, I want you to think pride, not shame. That is my command.

I know, I know... but it's a little lame on your own when there's someone who can take care of it for you! Uhg!

No way ...I firmly believe that a healthy sexual existence involves lots of sex and lots of masturbation - assuming you have the appetite, which you do. So while you may be short on the sex right now, you shouldn't feel bad about the masturbation. And if you mean it's not good/hot for you, then dial it up. There's nothing wrong with being sexy for yourself, so wear some cute panties and stuff like that to make you feel sexy while you play. Take your time, relax, go slow ...you know the routine, girlfriend. Own it.

(But I do feel bad for you about your man, hon. Hope it gets better soon.)
