my sex drive has gone nuts!

Im 29 years old, and after a few years of being on antidepressants my husband was complaining that I'd lost my drive. Well just a few days ago my doctor changed my medications and now I feel like a maniac. I can't sleep at night because my body is so revved up. Even after I've worn the hubby out, it doesn't quit. Last night I was awake till 4am with the insane urge to orgasm over and over. I looked up the medications I am on (fetzima, celebrex) and all I can find is info on DECREASED sex drive. It's not that I mind the orgasms, but keeping me from sleeping is a problem. I'd really like to hear other peoples ideas about this.

I am going through something similar. On no meds and I am a male. Libidomhas gone through the roof past few weeks. No solution. My desire for sex has gotten to point where it's even made me skip some gym days (hate that). Best I can do is recommend how your hubby can make you orgasm a lot more without burning out, but I don't think that directly answers your question

There are a few other women on here who've had the same 'problem' (lol). I don't mean to make light of it because in rare cases it can actually be a health issue, like in those unfortunate stories about women who can't stop orgasming and are actually made miserable because of it, but that doesn't sound like you. If you've just had an extreme uptick, you'll find company here.

I've never had a real spike like that because I've always been an extremely horny person, so I don't know what it's like to go from zero to 100 or anything like that. But several women here have, and it often seems to take the form of a sort of sexual resurgence that I think can be caused by any number of things, not just meds. My basic advice is to just have the orgasms and be glad life has taken an extremely pleasant turn.

If you have trouble sleeping etc., there are things you can do to help that. You may be best off scheduling alone time to masturbate every day in addition to sex with your husband. Not sure if you have kids, but if not that shouldn't be much of a problem. Theoretically there should be a finite number of orgasms you can have and a point where some degree of satisfaction kicks in. If you find you need to masturbate two or three times a day, do that, and maybe even try to up the orgasms per session. The idea is to not go to sleep under quota. If you need a dozen big Os a day, get them in 2 sessions of your own in the morning/afternoon and then a roll with the hubs at night. That sort of thing anyway.

The big overall point I'm making is that this isn't something you can negotiate on if it's the real deal female sex crazed condition I'm thinking of. You can't fight it and win, you have to let your libido have its way. It just is what it is.

      Good luck!

After you have your orgasm or orgasms, that should help you relax so you can sleep better, no ?

Not necessarily - I might be one of the people that Jen was talking about.

I was SOOO revved up but I would have little orgasms with FE/gushing, but sometimes could not get like a full orgasm or finish - like the release of sexual tension just wouldn't happen. I was playing solo sometimes for hours and getting no sleep.

Katliff, it eventually eased up though it has not gone totally back. I thought mine might have been related to Klonipin - although like you, when I looked it up I did not see it listed anywhere as a related issue. I was working from home and job hunting, so while it was very distracting, it didn't have the impact that it could with a lot of obligations to attend to.

Honestly if I needed sleep and I didn't want to introduce anything risky - I tried taking a Benadryl a few time - at least I got some sleep!

I wonder if some of the other women who had huge spikes, would post how long it lasted and how you dealt with it or if it ended or eased.

You woul think so, but not so in this case, I'm talking orgasms into the 20s or even 30s (I stopped counting). The only way I can explain it is like this build up of tension that has to be released. Having my husband help certainly makes it more enjoyable, but after I'm totally satisfied and think its all over and done it starts building up again. And to clarify, I wouldn't technically say I'm horny, because it is purely a physical need, akin to needing to needing to pee or something. In short, it was fun at first, but it is no longer. Even my husband told me he hopes I go sleep tonight cause I've worn him out. Lol.

I don't mean to cross examine you but you said you didn't mind having all those orgasms, but now you say it's no longer fun. My point in asking about it is that the implications might be drastically different. I responded in kind of a playful way initially because it sounded like you basically just got super-charged with arousal, and that happens quite a bit to a lot of us, whether it be temporary or permanent. But if this is actually an issue that's affecting your quality of life and not just disrupting sleep, it may be a real problem and not funny at all. If it really is, you should see your doctor.

Off the cuff I'd say the 20-30 range for orgasms is not unreasonable. It's high (assuming you mean daily, not per session), but I think it still falls within the normal range. Also you mention at least a temporary feeling of satisfaction - I don't think people with orgasm disorders have that. It just sounds like your recovery period is really short, but that's not totally uncommon either. When I've had really good, satisfying, extended sex, I'll typically start getting generally aroused again within maybe an hour. If I've had sex or some orgasms but felt like I wanted more, I'll get aroused again almost immediately.

The purely physical need thing is interesting too tho - are you saying it's sort of limited to your vagina, like it's lubricating and 'aching' without any of the other signs of arousal that usually go with it? That sounds like a potential issue again too.

I'm probably not do a very good job of explaining myself, but yes, the last of what you said is exactly what I mean. I've had about 6 hours sleep in the last 5 days because as soon as I try to relax it happens. I'm calling my doctor today because I'm almost certain it might be a side effect of my new antidepressant, and I simply cannot continue this way. I'm a zombie all day, and just to add a little TMI I'm feeling more than just a little roughed up down below. Lol. I appreciate your thoughts on this though!
