Girlfriend and I are in serious need of a condom recommendation.

Ok, so my girlfriend and I have had trouble enjoying sex with a condom. The funny thing is that this wasn't always the case (like in the beginning of our relationship). I am wondering if I am buying the wrong ones.

The ones I have bought don't feel good for me, actually, they've been very uncomfortable (and it's not because I have huge gerth, so size is not the issue). What makes it all worse is that the condom is hurting my girlfriend. Like, when I go in, I can feel the friction and I can that it would hurt her. At this point I get completely turned off.

Once the condom comes off everything goes back to normal. We've tried lube (water based), and lots of it, but it does not seem to work. Actually, she even says we shouldn't need lube because she is so wet down there, which is true, but the condom dries her out. Which is weird, because shouldn't the condom not soak up any juices? Is the condom not supposed to be porous?

A lot of you may be thinking birth control. Well, we are not fans of the side effects, and I am not a fan of popping pills when there are alternatives. The latest condom I bought was Crown condoms from Amazon. They were aweful, though I think they may have been imitation Crown condoms. Which is a shame because I heard they are great.

Edit: please excuse typos. Posted this on my phone. Oh, and I also have some trojans that came in like a teal or sea green box. They have been better than the Crowns, but not good enough.

Oh, and I'd also like to add that it's more important it feels good for her, because if it can keep her wet, then I can hang in there no problem.

We've been having sex a lot but without the use of a condom. We just don't want to push our luck anymore.

This is a real tough question. (Not the condom one - BF just uses Trojans all the time and I don't think I can really steer you in any better directions there as obviously they have to work uniquely for you alone, and likewise her), but the overall BC question. I agree about other BC methods, they just aren't ideal IMO. (Eliminating pregnancy chances is not good enough reason to kill your sex drive, for example. Nothing is, frankly.) On the other hand you're definitely playing Russian Roulette if you go condom-free and she's not on BC. You must have pretty good pullout control to go that route, but even that is far from safe as I'm sure you know. Sigh, I really don't know what to tell you other than experiment with every condom on the market.

I'm assuming here that you're modus operandi is still prioritizing her pleasure, so if it were me we'd be doing lots and lots of oral and anything else we could think of but avoiding straight up effing until we found a solution. Have you ....lol how to put this delicately, experimented with any alternative sexual methodologies? There's lots of fun to be had out there if you have an open mind.

Yea, I love handjobs and I love giving her oral, so that works. And yes, I have great pull out control. I will never fail to pull out in time. So to elaborate, my worry isn't me climaxing in her, it never was. My worry is the pre-cum. I have known that pre-cum can get you pregnant.

It's been a really long time since I needed condoms. I used to like Sheik condoms. You can buy a variety pack. I forget where I purchased them from, but I remember getting 20 different types of condoms. It was online. I hated Durex. I heard sheep skin condoms are making a come back because they are more likely to replicate the feeling of skin. They fell out of favor in the 90s because they are not so great protection against STIs, but work for pregnancy prevention.

Other non hormonal contraceptives to consider are the female condom. Expensive, but they don't dry out, at lease not for the woman. Diaphragm. These are pretty effective. I don't know why they fell out of favor. Many say it's because there is no pharmaceutical company marketing it.

The other thing is to use silicon based lubes. The water based ones do dry up. The condom isn't absorbing it, the body is. The only problem is it can be pretty slippery and a big messy.

Men's Health Magazine tested a number of condoms. You can google it for the results. Condom selection is a very personal choice and you will just have to experiment. I am surprised that lubricated condoms don't solve the dryness issue.

Best of luck. At least it will be fun trying them all out.

Also, using a condom means I would not have to pull out, which would be nice.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. Aren't silicone based lubes bad for the girl?

Only if the condoms are made of shellfish.
