I don't think we typically have sex for longer than 10 minutes when we do, so yeah it's not that far off.. Every now and then we decide to have fun and set like a 45 minute time limit before we can 'finish' (he's more apt to earlier than I am, but that's true for most guys I think...). But when we do that, it has to be a stop & go type of thing mixing in some foreplay and other stuff. My husband and I have a great sex life, but I'd be lying if I said he'd last more than 5-6 minutes without stopping to take his mind off it for a second lol -
I think there are different factors for men. Big part of those reasons is physical. For the record Im in my early 50's. When I was late teens to early 20s I could not last more than 5-10 minutes if I were guessing BUT I could string together 4-5 orgasms in a few hours and up to 6 over a few hours. For the next 20 years the time and frequency both went down. A bunch. By the time I was in my 40's a couple minutes after penetration was average and I was a one trick pony. I love my wife so much for putting up with this and not making me feel bad. I will forever try to make it up to her and pin her on her back or let her go for a pony ride every chance I can.
Fast forward a few years.
Here is the part of the broken record but I will keep shouting it to all men. I tested my Testosterone levels and found I was about 150 total. After a few years of fine tuning as of my last test (every 90 days) my total T level is close to 800 and my free T is 19.4
NOW sex is as good or better than its been maybe my/our whole life.
BUT what makes me go longer are a few things. On a weekend or evening a couple drinks DO help. The start stop method does as well along with switching positions. I also buy ED meds from a well known source and that helps as well. Its like putting a turbocharger on a engine that already is hopped up! Porn is more of a motivator to get me ready when I cant have access to her and I dont masturbate to porn. Seems kind of pointless to me. Porn has however served as a tool for new ideas and tips. (Ha I said TIP!)
One thing I found by accident is a prescription pain med I take for a bum knee called Tramadol is also used off label for PE and its been verified and I think Wiki may also mention it. Tramadol is a great med for minor aches and isnt a narcotic and doesnt give you a buzz.
There are times when she tells me she has had enough and I have not cum yet. I think we have been at it a few minutes and she tells me not so. I made it a point to look at a clock a few weeks back and she was right. We had been having sex in different positions if not rooms for 45 plus minutes. At that point she will go oral which is one thing that I simply can not last more than a few minutes most times. Or we go to sleep for a while and resume in the mng. Sex is such a great thing I dont understand why anyone would not like to extend it and enjoy it as long as reasonably possible. Its not all about the coming even though times I feel like my balls are going to shoot out my penis when I come hard. Not trying to be overly graphic but its such an intense feeling. But that is the goal and for men I think its more of a physical need to make that release than women maybe sometimes.
On the other side of the coin in the mngs Im likely to only last 4-5 minutes at most with an intense orgasm at the end that I can not hold back and seems so much more more romantic. Other times like a nooner I last 5-10 minutes I suppose all natural and as always my wife knows a BJ will at times get me off in a few minutes or less once I am hard.
You women are such beautiful creatures and we men are lucky to have you.
Sorry for the long post.Comment

I'm going to go with something that was said much earlier. When you start feeling yourself getting a little close, switch positions, or just change the flow. When I'm with my girl I'll go with standard missionary for a bit, and then if I'm not going for a pure quickie what I'll do is pound her as hard as I can until it starts building up just a bit. Then I'll pull back, bend her knees so I'm in somewhat more of a standing position and go at it again. This will buy you a bit more time. If you really want to keep going, you can do some more complete positional changes. I generally tend to stick to 2-5min sessions because as someone else said earlier, I don't really want to spend an hour or so having sex, hah. Once in a while I'll be in the mood to go for a while, but I try to keep it at a shorter duration. And I'm certainly not naturally gifted at lasting long. I have a "fatal flaw" in that a girl that's reacting very well will get me off, so the better I do, the more likely I am to pop, but I could hit 10-15min just about any time I wanted, if I was trying hard.
Your results will vary though, my girlfriend is disabled and so I don't get as much reaction from her as I imagine a number of other guys do from their women.Comment

Studies in which couples were actually observed having sex or in which one partner timed sex with a stopwatch (as opposed to surveys in which people are asked how long they have sex) show a wide range in the length of lovemaking, ranging from about 2 minutes to 40 or more minutes. The average? About 7.3 minutes in one of the more recent studies. That’s longer (believe it or not) than in studies done decades ago. In the discussion of marital sex in his classic book about male sexuality, researcher Alfred Kinsey speculated that for perhaps three-fourths of all males, orgasm was reached within 2 minutes of initiation of coitus, and that this was “a frequent source of marital conflict.”
Although this 2-minute average time to male orgasm probably sounds ****ed short, it’s actually rather leisurely compared to our closest primate relatives: Chimpanzee sex lasts an average of 8 seconds, and gorilla sex lasts and average of a minute. The reason for that brevity is clear: Animals are rather vulnerable when they've having sex, so there’s a premium put on a wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am approach to things. But just because fast sex is in Nature’s best interest doesn't mean it’s the ideal. Far from it. Volumes have been written on the desirability of prolonging sex so that it is more generally enjoyable and so that the woman has a more realistic chance for achieving an orgasm (women, in general, taking longer to reach orgasm than men even with direct clitoral stimulation).
There are entire schools of “sexology” that advocate delayed male orgasm. The Taoist approach to sex, which has been popularized in this country by Jolan Chang, is a very female-oriented approach to lovemaking. Various techniques are suggested for slowing down the male sexual response and postponing male orgasm. Indeed, Chang advocates an approach to sex that deemphasizes male orgasm. Men can-and should-have sex without orgasm, he suggests. Not only does this allow a man to make love for as long as he wants with a firm erection, but it creates many more opportunities for variation in position and satisfaction of the woman’s sexual desires. When out driving always turn left. Then, should you become lost, you can find your way home by reversing the procedure and always turning right.Comment

I know that this is an old thread, revived by an odd comment, but let me give a different perspective -- don't fix what ain't broke. You have made the decision that she would be happier if you lasted longer. Your wife seems very pleased with your sex life and it seems like you are as well. She has even rejected the easiest solution to masterbate first.
There can be so many unintended consequences of fixing what is going well. She might love the fact that her sex appeal makes you cum quicker and may start to question herself. You may find that after all of this, her satisfaction level doesn't change one bit -- she loves sex with you because of the great relationship you have and not that you are a porn star. Who knows. I get that most of this is for your own ego, but don't change what works to measure up to an artificial goal."The only consistent feature of all of your dissatisfying relationships is you." I think your right Effy some men will use the time frame with porn videos as a goal of there performance. The wife or girl friend is very happy with the performance she receiving already why upset the apple cart as they would say.I know that this is an old thread, revived by an odd comment, but let me give a different perspective -- don't fix what ain't broke. Jen, how long have the guys you've been with lasted on average? An hour seems really long.
Personally I was lasting a long time at first because decades of masturbating desensitized my penis but after a few weeks of just vagina, I'm able to cum in 5-10 mins. In fact its hard for me to last longer. But I've developed a trick. I have my gf blow me before sex. The first ejaculation allows me to last longer for actual penetration. Plus she gets the biggest load to swallow

An hour is definitely long. Averages are really meaningless here tho, there are just too many variables and what does it matter anyway? As long as she has her orgasms, she really won't care how long you spend thrusting during that part (assuming you're not at the extreme ends - 30 seconds or 7 hours, etc.).Comment
