I'm not sure if it's a medical term, but they're also called queefs.
They're totally normal; caused by a vacuum created in your vagina during sex. I'm not sure how to avoid it; but maybe with the name "queef" you can google up more information.

Copied from wikipedia.org - Vaginal flatulence (flatus vaginalis in Latin) is an emission or expulsion of air from the vagina, often during or after sexual intercourse or (less often) other sexual acts, stretching or exercise. The sound is somewhat comparable to flatulence from the anus but does not involve waste gases and thus often has no specific odor associated.

Also copied from wikipedia - So-called "queefing" can also be considered erotic and is the subject of a pornograhic sub-genre, as for example in the movies of Amber Rose.

.......... hmm I never thought of it as erotic ... shrug.

I don't consider it "hot" when my wife queefs, but it is natural, so I just dismiss it and try to make sure she isn't embarassed. It usually happens after a doing a position like doggy style or anything where her legs are held up for a while (this usually lets more air in)....

                Totally normal though.

Yeah but can be totally embarrassing at times even though it doesn't bother him. I've found that for myself it can ruin the "mood" for me.
