Ladies, what is your definition of bi for a woman.

My GF says she is bi curious and not bi. I think and told her she seems more bi then she is willing to admit. A year ago her definition of bi curious for herself was that she may be attracted to another woman, even have sex but it would only be to fill the curiosity or satisfy the moment. That is takes a very classy sexy woman to make her curious enough to want to explore the attraction further. That she rather have a threesome with myself and a woman then a woman alone. She would add that she is much more attracted to a man in the full gamut of emotions, and physical desires and needs and could only have a long term committed relationship with a man. Since she has had alone sex with this one woman (not as often as 6 months ago) for about a year. Her own daughter thinks her behavior is bi. Sometimes I think she don't admit too me for me. Even this other women calls herself bi curious and admits that only a man could complete her bla bla bla. Just curious to what other women out there feel is bi or bi curious.

Well bi curious is someone who thinks about it but not acted on it yet. But being Bi you had sex with male and female partners. My wife is completely bi she loves her girl friends and me of course lol.

Being bi curious, just means she's interested in other women, being Bi means she'll act on that urge

She's bi if she identifies as bi - and as somebody who does, it rubs the wrong way when somebody else tries to say how I/others "should" identify.

Back in the 40's, an important sex researcher named Alfred Kinsey (you should read about him if you have never heard of him - anybody who has interest in sex would likely be interested in his work) came up with a scale to represent sexuality. The Kinsey scale (guess he wasn't modest!) runs from 0-6, with 0 being completely heterosexual and 6 being completely homosexual. There's also an X at the end of the scale to represent asexuality. On the scale, your girlfriend might be a 1 - "predominantly heterosexual, only incidentally homosexual."

Current definitions of bi, bi-curious, queer, etc don't serve a lot of purpose except for self-labeling. They strictly mean whatever the user wants them to mean (though that's true about all words, really, yet we have dictionaries )

Very well said Little this guy was very interesting reading about on his study. But it's funny how in this country that more people accepted women being bi or gay then we do with men being of the same nature. I never figure that myself or ever will for that matter. My two oldest daughter are very bi they did have boy friend have daughters of there own but at this time will date only women at this time due to some bad issue they had with men in previous relationship.I support there decision on what ever makes them happy.

I agree with Little pretty much. There is a potential for things to get murky tho if/when women aren't entirely honest with themselves about their feelings and desires, which seems fairly common from what I've seen. There are a lot of women out there who for whatever reason don't want to be thought of as bisexual, even tho they have a fairly distinct attraction for women ....lingering cultural taboo or something I suppose.

I think it has a lot to do with family pressure they don't think there parents or friends would approve of there sexually life style. But that would not change until that women come to terms with her sexual feeling and lives it how she wants to live it not through her parents or friends.I support my daughters on there life style choice as long as they are happy in there choices in life.

You're right, and you'd like to think in this day and age, the taboo aspect would be taken out by now

I know right? It's definitely receding tho, what with the pretty huge numbers who do self-identify as bi now.

It might be nice to have consistent use of the terms, just to make conversation clear. I guess I'd use the term "bi-curious" for someone who is interested in, or did have sex with a person of the same gender to see if they would like it. I'd call it "bi" if they want to, or do have sex with someone of the same gender regularly. (or lesbian if they almost exclusively want to or do have sex with someone of the same gender).
