I think there are a couple of ways to look at it. Bisexual means sexual attraction to both sexes. If she has that, then she's bisexual by that definition.

To me, a more important definition deals with behavior. A person could find the same sex attractive but never act on that attraction. By this definition, that person is not bisexual. But by this, your girlfriend still is.

What I suspect is that your girlfriend is referring to is the romantic component. Because she doesn't have feelings for women like she does toward men, she doesn't consider herself bisexual. I don't think that any of this self-labeling versus definition discussion gets to the heart of your issues. It sounds like you simply need to ask your lady what she wants out of life and see if that lines up with what you want.

I think the Kinsey Scale is meant to be rather fixed - if you are a 2, you are a 2 for life. It builds on Kinsey's research that had a lot to do with showing subjects certain pornographic material and measuring their brain activity in response to it. It has natural shortfalls - the question of biological gender and gender identity isn't addressed, and the addition of asexuality was an afterthought. But it isn't meant to measure the differences in daily preferences or perception by current partners, but instead overall inclinations possibly including subconscious ones. Not easy to self-label without a brain scan

Lovcookie, with the introduction of the possibility of being bi, there is always a bit of confusion on whether a partner of a given gender will be "enough" for the bisexual person. I agree with Stillness that the conversation you probably need to have is concerning other partners in your relationship, sexual and romantic, what you are comfortable with, and what your girlfriend expects to have access to in the future.

I find the Kinsey Scale too rigid. Therefore I like to refer to the OBI model. As with any other model, it's just a way of thinking and classifying, but I like the OBI model because it gives you fluidity on different aspect of sexuality. Here is a description of it:

In the OBI model, each of these concepts (sexual orientation, sexual behavior, and sexual identity) is different and separate from the others. Sexual orientation describes a person’s sexual or romantic attraction to another person. It’s not about behavior, it’s about the experience of attraction itself. Sexual behavior is used to describe the physical act of sexual activity. Sexual identity describes the way people identify themselves. Identity is personal; it’s something that each person can only decide for him- or herself. Gay, lesbian, bisexual, straight, and queer are all sexual identities.

So in the case of Luvcookie's gf, she identifies as bi-curious (say about a 1 on identity). Her behavior is about a 3 since see is engaging in as much sex with male and female partners, and her attraction is about 2 since it seems to be mostly men she is attracted to with a handful of women.

I place her as a 2. Which for another means she is Bi. She admits her level changes. Some days she is a 3 others like this week a 0. This scale applies to men and I know for me it is fixed. Always 0.

My definition is if someone wants more than just a few one night stands with a women or a threesome.
If she desires the women alone a lot then she would probably be Bi.
Curiosity and attracted to is normal, just depends how frequent it is.

I disagree with that, if I had taken this test when I was 16 I would have been an X. If I had taken it after I was with my husband I would have been a 0. Taking it today I am a 3, I will probably be a 3 for life.

Bisexual to me means just feeling sexual and emotional attraction to both genders. It doesn't mean that you're sleeping with both genders at the same time. It's been a pet peeve of mine when people assume "bisexual" must mean non-monogamous.

Motor guy-I feel like the stigma still exists. I once was told by an older divorced man on how, "most men wouldn't marry a bi women, bc they think you're gonna cheat." I'm very weary of discussing my sexual orientation, bc I don't want to deal with negative comments like that.
