Hello, I have a question. I was just wondering, is it possible that after 26 or more years of using a tampon that my hymen would still be in tact. I am 44 years old and have been using tampons at a very young age. I've never been active in sports but have ridden horses for a long time. And I've heard that all those things can break your hymen before having sex. I ask this question because recently I was intimate with a guy and he went inside me and it was painful and there was some blood. I've never had sex but have read that the hymen could have been broken a long time ago and that the pain I was feeling could've been from it just being my first time. I just have a hard time believing that after all this time and at my age that my hymen would still be intact.

It's possible that your hymen was not completely torn all those years ago. That is, there was still some tissue. However the pain and blood during sex can also be caused by a number of other things such as some degree of vaginismus

My oldest daughter went through this as well at about 12 the doctor was concern was my daughter Laura was sexually active Donna was like no I don''t think so. But the doctor had said her hymen was torn not all the way but some. I can say this was a tough discussion Donna, had with Laura, found out she was doing her karate and some boy her age kick her in the groin the doctor said it was possible this could have slightly torn her hymen. But it was not a easy discussion to have with the doctor and then your daughter too geez.I am so glad Donna, took care of it all but I was getting all the detail of it. They say boys so much much easier to raise then 4 girls.
