    how long would you wait

Ladies, say you started dating a new guy. What's the average time before either of you mentions sex? Is there a time that's too early? If a guy never mentioned it, how long before you take matters into your own hands and ask for sex?

current bf and I waited a few weeks before we had sex. I wanted to see how things would work out before we became intimate.

Did he ask for or expect sex earlier? When you say few weeks was it a few weeks after you first met or a few weeks after you decided to be bf/gf?

Well when I meant Donna, we had sex that first date after a frat party. We both had love at first site thing that hit us both. This I know is pretty rare to happen and 29 years together with 27 years married we are still going strong.

Having sex on the first date or within a few weeks may work for some people, if you're a good judge of character and are just lucky. Some people (like myself) would prefer to get to know you over the first few or several dates.

I want to make sure that we both truly like each other and that we want a committed/monogamous relationship with each other, and that time may vary.

we kinda' knew each other through friends before we started seeing each other, so we went from friends to bf/gf to heavy petting and finally to doing the deed, (lol).

Yeah, that helps when you already know the person.

I don't really think there is a rule for this. I think it depends on where you are in your life and what you are expecting out of a relationship. If you're truly just after sex, be open and honest about that. If you're wanting more, then be sure she doesn't think your focus is purely sexual. I think when you're dating someone and the chemistry is there, it's rather obvious. And there is nothing wrong with stifling the urges for a while in order to really begin to get to know the person. To let her know that you are interested in HER, not just her naked.

Watch the signs and go with the flow.

I couldn't agree more. People who wait definitely want to do it, but it doesn't hurt to build the emotional intimacy for awhile....Waiting is almost like seductive foreplay to me.

Really depends on the person, what their objectives of the relationship are and what their views on sex is.
