Doctor Visit
Is it weird that my husband always goes with me when I have my annual gynecology check ups? I hadn't never given it any thought until my last visit when I realized he was the only male in the waiting room. He and I have always gone to each other's doctor visits over the twenty-five years of our marriage. Not just the waiting rooms; we are with each other through out the full exam. During his exams there are a lot of wives that come with their husbands. When I mentioned it to him on the way home he was the only male in the waiting room, just laughed and said he had no problem being in a room full of women. Do any other girls take your husband or boyfriend in with you during your visits and examinations? -
My wife just went with me for the second time in our relationship because I wasn't well enough to drive.
I've been with her 2-3 times when I felt she needed support or I was concerned, but never for a regular visit. It's not a bad practice though. Two heads are better than one. And I always think that medical professionals are more prone to bring their A game when they know there's a concerned husband."Those sowing seed with tears
Will reap with a joyful shout." - Psalm 126 -

I don't think it!s weird at all if a woman takes their husband or boyfriend with them and have them in the room during the exam.I think that it!s up to the woman. Why do you think it!s weird? For the past couple years my girlfriend has been taking me with her to her annual gyno exams and has been having me to be in the room with her and I'm the only male in there. She was the one who have started having me to be in the room with her during the exam.I remember the first time I was in there and her doctor asked me was that the first time that I have ever seen one of them exams done and my girlfriend told her yes.My girlfriend asked the doctor if she mind showing me what her cervix look like and she had me to come around where she was and showed me what they sees up in there and what they do during the exam.I was very amazed at what I saw.Comment

I don't think it's weird. As long as you and your husband feels that's the right thing for you, I would say continue doing so. I would even go as far to say that the patient's opinion matters a little more, for the one going to feel a little more safe/relaxed/etc. I always tell my wife that if she want's me there, I will come. When she don't feel the need I stay at work.Comment

My husband doesn't go to my doctors visits unless I'm sick - even then he'll usually stay in the waiting room. Generally the only time we'll be in an exam room together is if our son is being seen for illness, and then only rarely.
He came to a few OB visits during my pregnancy, during visits that included ultrasounds and near the end when we were discussing but was actually instructed to stay in the waiting room - we were filled in later that the OB who wouldn't allow him back had been assaulted by a boyfriend during an exam because he didn't want the doc looking at his (pregnant!) girlfriend's vagina. I recalled the (very) young couple in question and overheard them saying it wasn't her first kid, so I fail to see the logic. The policy was only temporary, lasting a few weeks after the incident.
Nature gives us shapeless shapes,
Clouds and waves and flame,
But human expectation is that love remains the same,
And when it doesn’t, we point our fingers and blame.
Register|Contact Admin|Email Admin
Comment
