Also, would it be considered masculine of my boyfriend if I were to find a masterful way to lead the argument into a closure, if I were to "show him his place" and he submitted to me? Since you're saying the same thing would be a definition of femininity, were the roles reversed.
    Chelsea,

You're right. I could have been more careful in my choice of words.

I only participate here because the male perspective can be useful. And the perspective of this particular male is that there are some women who just want the man to take charge and be the man.

There may also be a generational issue here. As women get older, they are more able to see through to the other side of things, to understand that when he's "putting his foot down" what's going on underneath is that he is coming from his heart, wanting to do the right thing, communicating with the woman on her terms, but also standing his ground.

Hope I've made my point. We can always agree to disagree.

      I think we'll have to.

But I do agree that I don't want to date someone who's submissive and doesn't stand their ground, and I expect any man to want the same confident person. I don't think it would be okay for me to get the final say in any argument, put my foot down, and say "that's that." anymore than I think any man should.

Richard i did not see a sexist remark there, because i was probably thinking deeply into the entire context of what you were saying and a man speaking his mind subtly pertaining to something of equality to make things benefit both parties, being a man, but still through the thought pattern of discussion, leaving it open that being, for a challenge of sorts, if required, is how i read that paragraph. A MAN...

I understand from Chelsea's view that it can be derived differently as well, taken offense from, but i think that depends on the context in how it was meant and i think i read that correctly in what you were meaning.

So, yep, bad choice of words.....

Should see the ones i write sometimes Then again you have.....
