    Happy Valentines Day!

Men - I hope you spoil your wife / partner with chocolates and red roses
Women - I hope you spoil your husband / partner with lots of sex (after all that's what he buys the chocolates and roses for!)

I remember about 18 years ago I went to buy some roses for my GF (now wife) on Valentines day and when the florist told me the cost I told her I just wanted some flowers and didn't want to buy shares in the business!

This morning I picked a red rose from the garden and I had written a love poem for my wife - she wasn't expecting anything so she said I am such a romantic..... will I get sexy time tonight?? who knows.... but as long as my wife loves me I'm happy

We had sex to start the day out, but when she said, "Aren't you done yet?" after about five minutes, it sorta spoilt the mood...

        ^ that's...odd...

Asked a male friend recently what his idea of a good length of time for sex was. He thought 30 minutes for the actual intercourse, more for foreplay and after play.

We are doing fine thanks.... This valentines day I wrote her a love poem as usual.... she was too tired for any love making though :-(
she said I am such a wonderful husband and loves it that I always take care of her.... she still doesn't have much of a sex drive, but when we do make love it's always fantastic and struggle to last more than 2 minutes before I explode her inside.

Yes, i thought it was odd, or rather, a lot worse than "odd."

I sometimes wonder about sex in the past centuries. For centuries people didn't bathe much because it was though of a cause for getting sick. As a consequence, body odor was a given. I wonder how many couples wanted to go on for half an hour. Foreplay generally wasn't. Maybe a few minutes was good for both. In fact, it may have been ideal. Then people bathing and smelling good caused a shift in thinking.
I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.
              ...
Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

From a speech by Patrick Henry on March 23, 1775 at St. John's Church, Richmond, Virginia

Quite frankly - I don't want a Hallmark day to nudge my DH into loving me, bringing home flowers, candy and the like. To me it is much more special when he just does it for no reason at all. The same from my side - I don't need a Hallmark day to cook an extra special meal, with great wine and ambience. I just do it whenever. . . I believe he appreciates it all, as I've never had to ask and could just tell.
That which we forget may as well never really happened.
