    Increased Frequency and Intensity

I'm dating a woman who's in her early 50's. She has told me that she has had sex almost continually since high school. She has told me that she has always been horny and she has always loved sex. We have had a fantastic sex life. She can have sex all night. The last time we had sex she was more aggressive than usual, and she's always aggressive when it comes to sex.

I've never had ED. But like most men my age (mid-50's), once a night is usually it. But the last time she we had sex, I was good for two. She wanted more.

She told me of a former boyfriend who took ED medication. She told me that he was hard for hours, and she loved it. She told me that with ED meds, she didn't have to worry whether he came during oral sex because she knew he'd be able to stay hard for vaginal sex. She asked me to get a prescription for it. I believe she said he was taking Cialis.

What is up with her? She hasn't hit menopause. Is she becoming more horny as menopause draws closer? She can literally have sex all day. I've never been with a woman as horny. She has told me that her first husband and her used to set aside a day of the week during which they would have sex all day long. She told me that her former boyfriend, the guy who was taking ED meds, and her would have sex for hours almost every day. I know she told me that to motivate me to get an ED meds script, but it was probably true.

Is she unusual? Are there other women around her age that want sex constantly?

Some women are just that way. Often a high sex phase is due to hormonal changes. Menopause is only one of the possible triggers. She said she has been that way since high school which probably means that her sex hormone releases are probably greater than most women, however cross wiring of certain parts of the brain could also account for it.

Is she receptive to the use of aids and toys for sex? Is she into getting oral as well? Sex other than PIV? Does she do a lot of the work or does she leave it mostly for you?

Women can have high sex drive, just as men.

Do you feel you need the drugs? Are you comfortable with the idea of taking meds you don't feel you need, just to satisfy her? Do you really feel like this relationship is a sexually compatible one?

          Hi amy40,

There might be something to your post. I know she takes meds for depression caused by divorce. She will, at time, seem manic when it's inappropriate.

            Hi jns,

She is very active during sex. There is nothing she won't do. And she can do it all night long.

She wanted a vibrator for her birthday. I bought her an expensive one. I've used it on her many times, and she'll use it when I'm not around.

Were I to guess, I go with hormonal imbalance. She has told me that when she was around 40, one of her physicians diagnosed her with high testosterone for a woman. She has told me that since puberty, sex consumed most of her thoughts. After her physician diagnosed her with high testosterone, she thought it was causal of her very high sex drive.

              Hi atskitty2,

No, I don't like medicine unless it's prescribed by my physician.

I do know men who have taken ED meds and have said it the experiences were incredible.

So, it's a fact that starting in out mid twenties, the amount of testosterone produced in a mans body starts decreasing.
As this progresses, there are two symptoms that gradually become noticeable
                1) You start to put on weight around you middle and it's harder to get off.
                2) it may become harder to get/maintain erections one or more times.
Typical medical doctors like to treat the symptom so may tell you the only option is to take testosterone supplements or to take the "little blue pill".
There are various supplements that you can take that help the body to naturally increase testosterone production. Two of these are Zinc and vitamin D3 ("D drops") but, I would suggest talking to a naturopathic doctor who will do a blood work up to look at all possible contributing factors.

One other point. If your GF/wife has and unusually high sex drive, please don't try to diagnose it - whether it's caused by an "hormone imbalance" or she just happens to really enjoy sex and is completely comfortable with that doesn't really matter. In fact, I would hazard a guess that if you try to "diagnose her condition", you're going to have a very unhappy GF/wife. If you, as a man, were told that there was something wrong with you because you want sex too often, I suspect you wouldn't appreciate it. Same goes or her. Society has told us that women shouldn't be aggressive sexually, that it's the man that initiates things, that they don't want to be thought of as a ****, play hard to get, etc. But the fact is, if you strip away the guilt and conditioning that are imposed on women as they grow up, they love sex as much as men. I think boys and girls should be raised with the same expectations regarding sex and that if parents do anything else, they are doing their children a disservice.
If your GF loves sex that much and you can't keep up:
                    1) See a naturopath and explore options there.
                    2) Become a great oral lover
                    3) Have a really open and honest discussion around fantasies, etc. Maybe there are other things you can do for her
