it seems that FOSB plays a role but there is a lot of research still being done including research into meds that could inhibit the role of FOSB, it does not look like any human trials have been done yet



it also seems that even though there are lots of psychosocial reasons for drug addictions, it is basically biological:

Certain substances such as opiates can cause addictions in most people. Whether its a sex addiction or just compulsive behavior, I don't think it is an addiction in the same sense as an addiction to opiates.
