There are places on Black's Beach that are out of sight so you could be nude and almost no one would see you. If it is like it was before, in places, there are also a lot of gay guys who are looking at men, not women. Also, if you go to the San Diego City side, you will not be nude and still be only a short distance from the nude area.

All I can figure out is our country's nudity in public prohibition is the product of our culture.

I've never have had a problem with nudity in secluded locations; e.g., not open to minors.

My ex-wife loved to be naked. At adult pool parties, she was usually the first one naked, and she stayed naked until we left. My g/f loves to be naked. She has told me that since the first time she had sex (she was 15) she has loved to be naked with men. She has also told me that she knew of the power her naked body had over men. When I was 19, I went skinny dipping with two girls from my college. One of the girls had a pool & jacuzzi in her back yard. Her parents were gone on vacation. The following weekend, she had a naked pool party.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out the pandemic aversion to nudity. What's the big deal? Being naked is not a big deal.

Several hours south of where I live, near Santa Cruz, is Panther Beach. It's a "clothing optional" beach rather than a purely nude beach. Actually, all of the wilderness beaches (i.e. not municipal beaches) are clothing optional. It's technically not legal but the police will not enforce nudity laws.

I'm a crazy exhibitionist, so I do love it. My husband loves that, watching other men looking at me. We don't fool ourselves by pretending that nudity isn't sexual - what nonsense. We enjoy the heck out of it, and I love showing off for both the men and the women...

It is rumored that there's a clothing optional beach near here. I have thought about checking it out. I am not sure I know exactly where it is, as the lake is huge, with 2 public beaches and many smaller boat landings and beachy type shores. I've never been able to find the spot, and quite honestly haven't wanted to do that much exploring in the secluded areas there alone.

Cathy - nice casual insult there. Nudity is not invariably sexual, or do you really think a pre-pubescent kid running around with nothing on is doing it for attention or anything sexual? It's not invariably sexual for adults either; I for one am asexual and have internal thermostat dysregulation, which means I am often too hot when other people are chilled, and I'd be physically more comfortable in nothing.

At one time women wore long skirts and dresses that only displayed their ankles. A dress that displayed some of the calf was a sexual display. The response to nudity is dictated by society for most, except for those rebels who reject such thinking.

                Hi cathygirl,

My g/f has always been a muted exhibitionist. She does it for male attention. She has always told me that she loves to be naked, especially in front of men. To this very day, she'll walk in public wearing see-through tops & no bra.

She learned at a very young age the power her naked body has over men.

I'm going with nudity as not always being sexual. Dudes do not walk around aroused at nude resorts. Nudity is sexual when sex is the end game.

I believe it depends on what your thinking of with sexual. In my mind I think bodies are sexual by nature, in the reason why they are beautiful. It's to attract good mates for the best possible reproduction for the next generation.

That said, it does not mean that you get instantly horny every time you see a nude body, far from actually. There needs to be elements of attraction. And most people have a filter saying that bodies of younger humans are non sexual, and not suitable mates. We are built from nature to nurture people viewed as kids and therefor they are not viewed in that way.

So I think people need to understand that what you view as sexual and not will vary alot from person to person. For me every adult body I see, is viewed in a sense of beauty, that is kinda sexual because I would not care is I did not know what sex was.

But I enjoy seeing beautiful bodies. That does not mean I want sex with every beautiful person I see. but it is sexual anyway. So I enjoy see through clothing

Nudity is not just found in California. In New York City, for example, it's perfectly legal (though still uncommon) for women to be topless in public. It's an equality thing, result of someone winning a court case. But "sexual" is in the eye of the beholder, and I suspect the vast majority of men find women's breasts very sexually arousing, and it's intellectually dishonest to pretend otherwise. While women may find a man's bare chest interesting, I doubt the effect is the same.
Anyway, I personally have no problem with public nudity, but I'd encourage folks to use some judgment: there are certain things you just can't unsee! :-))
For anyone curious about the state of nudity in NYC, look up (iirc) Outdoor Topless Pulp Fiction Appreciation Society. They've found a few places (one in Central Park! ) where they get completely nude.
