    Welcome to the forum, Mazzie.

As a guy, I suggest you do not need to say a whole lot to the first guy you get close to. You might tell him it's been awhile and you feel a bit of nerves on that account and want to go slow. Any decent guy will respect that. Even if you tell him how long it's been, a guy worth having around will not run. On the contrary, he should see it that you are selective and he should be honored that you have chosen him to help you end the dry spell.

In short, don't overthink the matter and let your own head sabotage things. Good luck!

      What he said.
As a guy also - and one who understands long dry spells! - I completely agree with his excellent and succinct advice.
As a woman friend of mine and wise philosopher used to tell me:
"Try not to think about it."

Thank you for the reply, having a man's opinion has definitely helped.

Mazzie, if you and I were dating, and the time were right and as we shed our clothes you said, 'it's been a very long time since I've done this," I'd reply, "Thank you for saving this for me!"
I would not be at all put off, and I'd take extra care to be what you wanted.
I'm sure I'm not the only man who would treat you that way, and that you will find another.
