Oh yeah, all those are good rationales.
Maybe I'll introduce you some time to my oldest son, the result of maybe the 20th or 30th (or maybe just the first or second...) ejaculation into his mother, who had been taking the pill exceptionally conscientiously beginning months before we first had sex.
As Samuel Clemens, writing as Mark Twain, famously said, "There's lies, there's **** lies, and then there's statistics."
And speaking as both an unintended father and as a student of statistics for nearly 40 years, I think he had it exactly right.

And in case you're wondering what Mark Twain said that this site chose to bleep out, it's a homonym for the common word for the structure that holds back water, as used on a river to create a lake, a dam in other words, but heaven forbid someone's delicate sensibilities be offended.

Unfortunately doctors confirmed infertility on my wife's part after many more times than you describe. I was not trying to be an unintended father. I wish that the statistics for that diagnosis were wrong like they were in your case.
I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.

Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

From a speech by Patrick Henry on March 23, 1775 at St. John's Church, Richmond, Virginia

Pill failed, I'm sure of it.
