    is it or isn't it...

I came across some interesting points of view recently. I dunno, maybe I just read them wrong but it made me think about something...

Sex toys. Oh I know, not an original thought but heres what I am getting at... If its not sold exclusively as a sex toy or shaped like a sex toy or or considered a sex toy but its used to masturbate, does it then become a sex toy regardless of how some try to justify it?

I am of the opinion that if its been anywhere near my genitals and I have had an orgasm from it... its a sex toy even if its not. For example, I remember the first time I had an orgasm while sitting on one of those vibrating chair mats meant and sold for massage. Looks nothing like a "sex" toy and not even remotely connected to the sex industry but sure had me squirming.

I have seen porn where people get off on their cell phone set to vibrate or their crest spin brush with the vibrating head. Still a cell phone or a tooth brush but a sex toy? What about the handheld shower head?

    Interested in others thoughts.

If it can be used for sexual stimulation its a sex toy in my book. And people are remarkably creative in that line - so LOTS of things can be used as sex toys.

I think there is a market in "stealth" sex toys - for people who are to embarrassed to buy something that is obviously a sex toy, but want one anyway. Can backfire though - I was at one friends house, and they had a nice acrylic sculpture on an end table - they probably thought it was discrete, but it was obviously a sex toy.

Places like Sharper Image, and Brookstone sell lots of "massagers", that just "happen" to be shaped well for use as sex toys. I was actually a bit surprised when Sharper Image started carrying JimmyJane vibrators - which are not obscene looking - but don't require a lot of imagination to figure out what they are for.

In any case - have fun with whatever works - but don't assume that other people won't recognize it.

What's the point in trying to define something.... Any debate about what and what isn't a "sex toy" is just talking symantics, what the object is and what it's purpose is to you remains the same.

My ex had a vaseline covered toothbrush, which needless to say I wouldn't brush my teeth with. Is it a toy? Does it matter? In some peoples point of view a fighter jet would be a toy.. if you see what I mean.

LOL... a fighter jet would be an awesome toy. I am specifically talking sex in this instance tho. And why the heck would you use your partners toothbrush regardless of what its dipped in... ew. Not trying to define anything and the point is its a fun and interesting topic to discuss on a sex forum.
Actually anon, a thread that you were in a while back is what got me thinking about how people will find it offensive to call their masturbatory tools sex toys.

I could care less how discreet or undefined an object is. It's my opinion that if you get off with it, its a sex toy.

Ahhh shucks.... that's sweet.... Of course... but he may not be around every day, every week one day.... then what ya going to do? (smile)....

Truthfully, sometimes which i think is the point Uneeklyme is making, you can have absolutely no idea what pops up and rears itself as being a sex toy... You look at it and all of a sudden you have a vision of it's use... lol... whereby you would never have thought.

I wonder myself whether there is method behind the madness of many creators... We make shavers, so okay, let's make one fatter and longer that has a suction so it is in your face daily, when you shower? ( Please note Example only.) lol.. would someone look at that and think? Um, well that's how come i now look it at and go? As, yes someone did.... As they asked me how my shower was? WT....

            So laughing..

But, i agree if it can be used as a sex toy, then it becomes one in that particular persons minds eye...

If this is the case, no offense, but you don't need to purchase any sex toys and never get caught out if something happened to you hey? Just look around in every room of your home.....

+1. Why do you think those vibrating wiggle pens are so incredibly popular with middle and highschool girls? I know I haven't seen a rash of blurrily written homework anywhere but the batteries still need replacing.

I was basically saying that it is the intentions that make something a toy, something isn't inherently a toy or not. Many a time have I imbued toy status on household objects, and stuff.

And... I just have to say.... "I could care less" means that you COULD care less about it, therefore you do actually care. If you say "I couldn't care less", then that really implies that you absolutely don't care. I find it strange that Americans do this, I mean the logic string just doesn't hold up.

                Anyhoo~

CW... yes, that a point. Its amazing what people will find around the house or as Sinister points out... schoolyard.

I didnt start this topic as it is something personal or a problem, just saw a back and forth that kind of made me think about it. Actually, it was more of a well you use sex toys and the reply of No I dont, its not shaped like a phalus type of thing. I just thought...it gets you off doesnt it?

Anon... symantics. I could care less but maybe I couldn't.

Well as a "visualisation" person, i could count 10 things in my house just from sight from where i am that could be classed as "sex toys". Lol...

It's all interesting in the scheme of things i believe to "look outside that square"...

And, i am convinced as rycoreyus stated, that makers of any goods that offer a means, will try to incorporate that sub-concious thought as it increased their sales at the end of the day...

LOL on that last one... Mmm what can i paton? Think CW...
