Can we talk about background noise for sex?

My husband and I often put on a horror movie during sex. I’ve been told that’s “weird.”
I’m not concerned with my weirdness, but I’m curious to know what other folks put on for sexy times.
I imagine music for a lot of ppl, but what sort?
Anyone else playing movies? Porn? Nature sounds?

I have never put on music during sex unless it was to mask any noises from others. A horror movie sounds interesting but a good choice. Good and bad, creepiness, weirdness. Do you or your husband sometimes channel part of the movie?
I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.
    ...
Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

From a speech by Patrick Henry on March 23, 1775 at St. John's Church, Richmond, Virginia

I've put music on in the background during sex to make it harder for anyone to hear us (this was more common when we lived in homes with smaller walls or shared a wall with a neighbor).

The only other time anything is on is if we're doing a BDSM scene with impact play and want the energy and rhythm of the music to help set the mood. We use the same music for both, though - it tends to be alternative rock or classic rock with a driving beat - nothing too happy, but nothing too slow or somber. We go for screaming/shouty vocals and a distinct drum beat.

I can't put on movies or TV because I will fully start watching the movie lol. Even times when we've been watching TV and started having sex spur of the moment, I find myself listening to the dialogue and not being present. It's like when TV is on at a bar and I'm like I don't even know anything about college basketball but I'm watching it instead of listening to my friend talk. Sometimes I will turn on a sexy album (Control by SZA!) but mostly I don't listen to anything.

Haha, no. He’s more vanilla than a McDonald’s ice cream cone.

Our sexy time always seems to happen too spontaneously for any sort of preparation like that. We don't live together so, our sex life is irregular and unpredictable. We live in apartments, and we probably should attempt to muffle the noise, but neither of us seems to care in that moment. We aren't big TV people, and I don't typically play music at home...so the neighbors just get to enjoy, I suppose...lol

It definitely ranges for me! Sometimes I prefer to have music and other times silence, and it also depends on how spontaneous the sex du jour is.
