    New ideas and technique

I am wondering how others go about increasing their sexual knowledge and skills?

For single people this is generally done by having new partners. But for those in relationships, how do you continue to learn?

I have used reading as a starting point for knowledge. Videos and movies are often just porn without much real information. Of course, forums like this one help. The key to skills is to have both partners want to change things up a bit from time to time and then analyze what works and what doesn't. For some, good skills seem to be natural and for others, good skills have to be learned.

I think growth and continuously wanting to learn new things is so important. Using new ideas that you picked up from previous partners when you’re young was so exciting. That learning should never stop. I have to admit that watching amateur porn taught me a lot about eating ***. Years ago that was never talked about

Watching porn gives me an idea of how to do new positions and give him more pleasure when I am on top. But talking to other women also helps.

MrMr I think I can contribute here...after a recent break up and reuniting with my bf, we have really began to push the boundaries of our sex life. It's always been good with us, I've never had any complaint or felt that it was lacking.

But now that we are sort of, in it to win it, we've taken a whole new approach to our sex life. We are communicating a lot more and asking about what more we want to to experience sexually.
We've been together almost 4 years. I think if I had any recommendations for long term relationships, it would be to just keep the communication open. We are not expressing ourselves the same way now as we were 3 years ago. We watched some porn one night, in the context of seeing what techniques others are using, and what looks appealing to us. We didn't have sex that night, it was just a sort of research project. Several days later we implemented some part of that, and it was amazing.

I think the best way to reach a greater level of intimacy with a long term partner is just to keep the communication open, listen to their changing needs and be prepared to accommodate that. I have typically taken a very teasing role in our relationship. I loved to walk around half dressed and tease him a bit. This weekend, for instance, he flipped that script on me. He put on just his underwear and a button-down shirt and then spent a good part of the day cooking. He knew what he was doing and he made me wait for it. He teased me, just as I teased him so many days before.

This was all new. It's important to keep things fresh, be creative and don't be afraid to try something different and outside of the usual routine. Just in the past couple weeks, after talking about ideas, watching porn, talking to friends, we have several ideas on the table for exploration, and neither of us really knows when the other might implement these ideas for the other. I feel like we've kind of set up this anticipation between us that we never really had. I don't know what he's got up his sleeve, and he doesn't know what I'm thinking, or maybe I should say "planning", either.

So, listen to your partner. Ask questions. Be genuinely curious about what new things they want to try, and share with them what it is in the back of your mind to be tried.

when newlyweds, we spent a lot of time in the bookstore.....sometimes, I'd pull husband into the aisle with sex books, show him pics, & say "let's try this." he'd be super embarassed & get out of the aisle quickly!

Honestly, through forums like this. I've been married nearly 20 years, so I'm always looking for new ideas. For example, here's a technique I've used before and recently.

During, penetrative sex, I'll thrust slowly and no more than half my length inside her. Just to change it up, I'll occasionally give her full thrust or two, or three. Other times, I'll sit still inside her for a bit, feeling it as her vagina pulses on me in anticipation and excitement awaiting me to begin again. By doing so, I'm able to fully control my orgasm and easily back off if i get too close. She still has me inside her, but any lack of penetrative stimulation is more than made up for by kissing, licking, sucking, squeezing, and caressing other erogenous parts of her body. If i work it right, i can go for like 2 hours and she'll cum about 6 times. But this technique only works in positions where I'm in control such as missionary, doggy, spooning, or any of their variations.

But only through communicating with my wife, swallowing my pride to ask questions and share ideas and experiences in forums like this, and just doing some general research have i been able to expand my sexual repertoire.

You can never go wrong with the Kama Sutra (there are newer versions that accommodate different body types). I suggest every couple that does hetero Sex stuff keep a copy on hand.

Here's another technique i used recently. Vaginal penetration of varying intensity for 2-3 minutes alternating with oral for 2-3 minutes. It provides her with varying stimulation, not too long but not too short either. Sooner or later, either you'll cum or she'll get so reved up that she'll lock you inside her.
