As some of you may know, I was a Royal Marine in another life. I had 4 successful, enjoyable and traumatic tours of Iraq and Afghanistan.
I'm always very happy to discuss my time in the military but tonight after a fairly pleasant date this girl sent me a message saying 'send me a picture of your scars because my friend said guys lie about the military to impress women'
First of all this was weird because I'm incredibly self conscious about my scars and in particular the one on my hand. So much so that unless I bring it up or you notice me rubbing my hand then you'd be oblivious to it.
2ndly, I went to the bar and came back struggling to hold 2 drinks (because of my hand) and made a light hearted comment about it at the time.
Now, the ignorence of her friend is forgiven because she's never actually met me. But the person I had a date with did. I've literally no idea why someone would lie about being shot by a terrorist but to then be asked to validate someone's story which I'd rather wasn't fcking mentioned felt out of order.
