On the contrary... masturbation prolongs orgasm. It is widely suggested a man that suffers premature ejaculation should masturbate before he has sex so as to have more control and last longer. Also, as someone else pointed out to some degree... One might be able to masturbate themselves to finish in record time as they know exactly what they like and where and how to touch themselves to get there fast but throw someone else into the mix and it throws off the rythem and takes longer to find it.

Increased testosterone levels MAY affect your vision and masturbation does increase testosterone levels to a certian degree but to say as an absolute that masturbation affects your vision is a pretty big stretch. In that thinking, so does diet, light, dark, exercise, genetics, sticks... all a hit and miss. DHT is the leading cause of hairloss in people, not just men and it is a sort of by product of testosterone but produced in two different glands. Masturbation is not the defining factor in production of DHT, genetics and diet are. Making factual statements on conclusions you have drawn...tsk tsk. Kinda like your mom telling you that if you cross your eyes they will stay that way.

I think he was also spending a lot of time "doing" himself which equaled even more after sex crabby moods. I think that once you get married and are in a commitment you clear out the pipes with your SO not your hand.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. Every guy I have ever been with are either giddy, full of energy and walk around with a big goofy grin on their face or are very cuddly and snuggly and loving after climax depending on the situation. Like, do we get to stay in bed and bask in the after glow or do we have to straighten our clothes and go about our business.

Masterbation is healthy regardless of relationship status. I do agree that at times its a waste of a good orgasm but the OP is about complete control and talks of how wrong and/or dirty and damaging masturbation is period. Not healthy

I should have said "not all men" some are much worse then others but I think they change from being just insane will do anything for you to a much more "roomate" type of feeling. DH is really great he is more the cuddly love bunny type... ;-)

For me, about a third of the enjoyment of the orgasm is relaxing afterwards. I'll agree that I change afterwards, unless I'm super motivated I won't care much for carrying things on (I would have made sure she came first anyway), and I just want to lie around cuddling and stuff.

If you expect me to come then give 30 minutes of oral... I doubt it.

Having a man give you oral AFTER intercourse IS a challange!

Below I will comment on MY PERSONAL experience with regard to the comments made by Blondie. Please note that this is my personal experience and while I believe that my personal experience reflects that of the "common man", I could be wrong.

I have to agree with Phoebee as she quotes ...("When a man spends his sexual energy on his right hand it takes away from "us" and thats not fair.").
If it does take away from "us" I agree it is not fair. In my experience, masturbation (on either my part, or my wifes) has never taken away from "us".

In other words, there is a big change of body chemistry when one excessively pratices masturbation. .
I masturbate frequently and I'm intellgent, capable, I have been able to hold down a job for the past 30 years, and have also been able to have a successful marriage for 22 years. Even if there is a big change in body chemistry, I don't see where it's been harmful to me.

In my experience, masturbation makes me last longer. Sometimes a lot longer.

75% of people over 40 years of age HAVE to wear corrective lenses. I am 47 and I don't. Again, my experience suggests that masturbation does not affect one's vision.

As far as hair loss goes, my doctor told me that I have "male pattern baldness" which so far has manifested itself in my in just a little thinning at the top (back) of my head. Certainly nothing where you can see skin. My doctor told me that my "male pattern baldness" was due to heredity, not masturbation, and it's so slight, I fail to see the connection between my masturbation and my hair loss.

Maybe I'm the "odd-one-out" here. I like sex to last a LONG TIME. If I cum, I still want to have sex for a while. I have no problem doing oral during recovery after my orgasm. When I have sex with my wife, my intent is for both of us to get our "fill" of it. To be satiated with it. Not to have too much, mind you, but to get a gracious plenty and certainly all we want. It doesn't matter to me how long it takes. This is a scenario where it's all about the journey, not just getting to the destination.

I think the mental picture some men have is that sex should be like porn where its endless "hours" of intercourse. Speaking for myself we just don't "lubricate" for that kind of sex and frankly I would perfer oral sex to get me to Climax. I love intercourse after oral sex for whatever thats worth but too much of anything is no fun.

Porn sex seems like quite a bore. No tenderness or laughing. After 20 years with my wife, our sex life has never been better! (I hope she feels the same way!) After a week of lurking on the site I thought I would get involved. Thanks for the great insight ladies!

I like Fire's comments. A lack of sex whether it's self pleasuring or with a partner seems more likely to cause problems than too much.
As for lasting a long time - had a partner once who did go way beyond all reason. One time we were at it for 6 hours, it got ridiculous. I could handle it then but it got to the point of why bother? When intercouse becomes that boring it's time to do something else! Really I think he had a problem, this was way long before viagra and it certainly wasn't normal.

I agree with what you are saying about things lasting too long. I don't want sex to last too long, or not long enough. I like to take my time with it and I want both of us to get all we want. To me, anything other than both being satisfied isn't enough and anything that gets to be "too much" is just that.

                      Cheers.
