This is a connection at the level of the soul or life energy. We crave it and its lack creates a hunger in us. It has been used against us to fuel consumerism and religion.
And also of both sexes, where one, uses it, that exact connection we crave, that exact hunger in us, to further their own needs without thought, without a care, which leads to non-belief, as they go on and venture again, collecting the next victim

Some highly developed individuals can achieve a state of connection with the larger part of life or humanity but for most of us forming a deep, intimate connection with one other and good connections with friends and family, is what is needed and desired deep within us. This isn't a matter of dependency but rather of freedom. Love as we have been taught to think of it is often trite and scripted next to a connection of the spirit.
Very few can, unfortunately until later in life, when they see the complete picture in front of them and do not focus on anything that has been taught to them, rather what they have lean't themselves and want for themselves..

My late husband and I were soul mates. We never tired of one another. May 22, 2010 he will be gone from this earth from me 3 years. It was a great experience to have and know those feelings. It is possible to find your soul mate, male or female. I had female friend soulmate. We were always together doing things and never tired of each others company. So it can be same sex as well I believe!
One word love: Curiosity, you long for freedom, you long to do what you want to do because you want it, to act on selfish impulse. You want to see what it's like. One day you won't be able to resist! Live Your Dreams!

Yes I had this, but then he changed, and it was as if I didn't know him at all...it was very disconcerting.

Well, if the feelings are one-sided, there isn't a connection or soul mate. That's where the fantasy based comes in. You can fantasize this and that all day, but, if it isn't reciprocated, it's a made up connection with the other person. You can make a relationship anything you want in your mind. But, that's not reality.

It's how I am starting to feel with the guy I am dating now. He is so awesome. He's everything i could want in someone and he loves me unconditaionally. I am starting to really feel those things on the list for him. Even though it's scary for me. I know that person my partner feels that way too. Also know because he's told me. good luck in everyones searches

That's happened with my ex. I've felt your pain before. So sorry that happened to you. You will hopefully find the right one.

i dont actually believe in the concept of a soul mate, but they being said, i have been with my fella for 2.5 years now. i still feel passion, excitement, and honestly when i am with him the world does seem a better place. our relationship had obstacles, that we have had to deal with. but we felt compelled to because apart we are so unhappy. when i married to my daughters father, i settled because i didnt really believe in romantic love. but it really can happen! i think a great relationship seems to make you better than you are, because that is how you are perceived.

There's a movie by Tyler Perry (sorry can't remember the movie nor the exact quote) but it goes along these lines,

There's a special place deep within my heart where only your soul is.

To me, that's my marker. To have a feeling so special for someone is the ultimate sign.
