The majority of men that i have dated seem to get the impression that your desperate if you contact them first and then if you continue with the relationship they have the upperhand because they think you want them that much. I have made a practice to wait and let them make the first nove if they are interested. Just my 2 cents

And you don't think the guys would like to know that the girl is intrested? No offence but far from all guys "love the chase", thats just an excuse made up why women so you never have to take any initatives and show any intrest. Personally if I dated a girl and she never took any initiatives or showed any intrest I would stop dating her...

A woman looking into a man's eyes, feeling like she's meshed, laughing with him the whole day, enjoying the company to me, says, "I'm interested".....

So, a "person" needs to understand body language and in that, that person will know that the other is interested...

I don't think it's the chase, rather, it's nice if a man makes a move, after you've ensured your interest as this OP obviously did...

It's not an excuse... we don't want to look to forward... simply put... we've given out the signs... men need to learn how to read them..

I didn't see where the OP stated she didn't show him what she thought, the exact opposite really.

I agree thought that not all guys love the hunt. Some are way past that, what they want to know is if there is interest, in them, personally, not what they have between their.... they are looking at the words "future relationship".

So, have you heard back OP?

Yes, but as proven by catterpillar79's post women think that men don't want that. The thing is Women don't want to show intrest in a guy at all... just bank in on the attention, intrest, affection, love etc etc the guy is giving them... atleast for a while until they actually reciprocate what the man does.

Mmmm... Well I think men do.. I think that all men regardless of age, want someone in their life... and they may sit back and ascertain and ponder lots of things from that date... in anyone search, it's got to be a "click" fully, in order for the butterflies and curiousity to come forward... as to who makes the first move? I think if you know what you want out of life, then you ask the question... no matter if your male or female or you may miss something.

I don't agree that woman don't want to show interest. Some, yes. Some, play games yes. But, when I met my boyfriend, I handed him my business card and asked him to call me... because he was interesting and I was interested.

I don't think we can be that black and white about things...

Confidence will allow anyone to show interest.

The way we were bought up, may affect us from asking a guy out.

And, then there are straight forward women who have a hidden agenda, and will play the game, to win.

I think women simply don't want men to feel special, they don't want men to feel liked, they dont want men to feel loved. They just want the man to make them feel special, to make them feel liked, to make them feel loved.

You know your always going to go off your own experience, until you reach an age where you have had many different experiences to then make a more management decision, or understanding.

Think about what you just said.

So a man makes a woman feel special, liked, loved.... Then what? She laughs, doesn't love him back?

How can she seriously feel loved from a man, without those feelings, without giving back?

If you said, once she felt loved, she would give it back, you may be spot on, if the woman in question has had problems in the past with giving and getting nothing back.

Again, you can't put things into boxes, it's about people, individuals, how they think, act, not women verses men.

Nothing was PROVEN by Cat's post, she is one person who feels a certain way. That certainly doesn't prove anything, it just gives an opinion. Did you neglect to read the 7 other posts before hers that said, yeah, contact him, nothing wrong with it? You decided to hang on to the one post that you believe confirms this constant negativity and ridiculous belief towards women that you have.

I personally would contact the guy. I would like to know either way what the guy thought of date and would he like to follow up. If I perhaps wasnt impressed I would thank the guy for the date but also explain that I would not like another date. I dont think anyone should be kept waiting perhaps in hope. The guy might be just as worried about making first contact.

I dont like to hang about, I just get on with it.

My wife is from 8,000+ miles (13,000+ kilometers) away from where I lived. I met her when I was on vacation. I gave her my address when we first met, I didn't have her address. She wrote me to start the process of getting to know each other better. I had the letter translated by a friend. This was before the days of cell phones and the internet. Regular phones were unintelligible where she lived and there was a language barrier.

In today's age, communications are much better, but people still play games about who should do what. Some of it is cultural, some is societal, some is one person trying to be in control of the situation. In general I say communicating is better than not, and being yourself is better than faking it. Would you rather pass on someone who would fall in love with you and you with them, just because they didn't play by the rules as you know them? If you communicate, you will soon be able to tell if someone is interested in you and is compatible with you. Yeah, sometimes you have to put yourself out there a bit.
I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.
                      ...
Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

From a speech by Patrick Henry on March 23, 1775 at St. John's Church, Richmond, Virginia
