If you're trying to tell me that it's beneficial to not take showers because it creates immunity to germs, we'll politely disagree. How would not taking a daily shower create immunity to anything? Do you actually know Australian physicians who prescribe not taking a daily shower because it's healthy? Would exposure to malaria prevent it? Would exposure to cancer prevent it? Of course not. So we take precautions to prevent illnesses.

Whether I have kids has no bearing on medical science. Physicians know how many diseases are transmitted and methods of prevention. I have yet to read or hear any physician opine that a daily shower is anything but beneficial. Do you know of one who does?

My brother's second father-in-law was both a DDS & an MD. He was a practicing dermatologist. I have had conversations with him about health. In fact, on one camping trip he specifically said that not showering was detrimental to health. He also opined adversely to perfumed soaps. Pure soap such as Ivory is best.

The physician who told me about bleach in bath water was specifically talking about MRSA, which seems to be common in Southern California. Now if some people have a phobia to bleach and other beneficial chemicals and not to MRSA, to each his/her own. MRSA is an extremely deadly infection that must be treated immediately with very strong antibiotics. It's not unusual to have MRSA pathogens on one's skin, which is why shaving cuts can become serious. Not all that long ago I saw a TV episode about a girl who cut herself shaving, contracted necrotizing fasciitis and died. This is another infection that's not uncommon in Southern California. The primary way of preventing such infections is bathing, since these pathogens are commonly found on our skin. So if I remotely thought that I had contact with any of these very deadly infections, I would hop in a bath with a cup of bleach. But those with chemical phobias would chose another option, although I don't know what it might be. Death, maybe?

So back to the point, if a woman does not take regular showers, that's my deal breaker. However, if you're good with a contrary point of view, who am I to argue against what's good for you?

Please do not intentionally take what I write out of context. However, I am good with what I have actually written, which somehow seems to have been misinterpreted by you. What I have written is that a woman who does not shower daily is my deal breaker. Please don't reach for an extreme to try to justify what you want to believe I have written. Of course I know no one is going to be able to shower every day. When I've gone camping out in the Rockies many miles away from any town, it's impossible to shower every day. However, I do take baby wipes to stay as clean as possible. But I do love outdoor activities that cause me to get very dirty, such as my recent fishing trips to the High Sierra.

Finally, on to your Tea Party comment. No political party has been more unjustifiably maligned than the Tea Party. That accusation you made about Obama is phony. It never happened. Research it. However, those not in the Tea Party have intentionally attempted to contaminate it with such BS, and they have been exposed. Hence, they have stopped carrying stupid signs at Tea Party rallies trying to portray the Tea Party as loons because they were the ones identified as whack jobs.

Elanor-Jane, we are Americans. We have our own culture. We don't care how you do things in Australia. We whipped the British because our Founding Fathers no longer identified with the crown. Our Founding Fathers admonished us to mind our own business. If it works for us, it ought to work for the rest of the world. I do not care about what you or anyone in another country thinks about us. You might have an ego problem if you hold the notion that we ought to be anything other than Americans. The French can do what they want, the British can do what they want, the Italians can do what they want, and we'll do what the we want, thank you very much. And it's not forgotten that when Europeans screw themselves up they rely upon American blood to bail their butts out. We should have stayed out of both World Wars, for Washington told us in his farewell address that Europeans have an inveterate propensity for warfare. So if Europeans want to kill each other, it's none of our business. But there's no doubt in my mind that were your country to find itself in a jam like it did in the Battle of Coral Sea, you'll cozy right on up to Americans for our blood to bail your butts out again. You ought to be giving thanks every night to MacArthur because he saved you from speaking Japanese. So keep your negative comments about America to yourself. And don't for a New York second allow your ego to think we care what you think because we don't!

I hope to God Ron Paul wins. Obama is a freaking globalist who's dead set on ruining our country. He had no experience when he ran for president. Now even members of his own party are openly questioning his ability as well they should because if he had two thoughts at once he'd become concussed. If you want him, please take him. He has gotten us into four more stupid wars in addition to the two stupid wars he promised to end if elected. So he's a liar to boot. He's a socialist who actually believes that government should steal what others have earned to give what others haven't. It's call buying votes with money others have earn, a condition our Founding Fathers cautioned us against. Social justice appears nowhere in any of our founding documents. It's a slimy, class warfare phrase to justify the greedy's illusory property interest in what others have earned, and that is in direct opposition to Jefferson's Declaration of Independence.

If Ron Paul is elected, you might just rue the day you hated on America, because he will pull us out of all of our foreign entanglements (President Washington's words). He will close every US military base on foreign soil. We will comport ourselves as our Founding Fathers admonished by defending only our borders. That's they way our country was intended by our Founding Fathers. So since you guys got it right down under, which you don't because you have plenty of your own social and economic problems to deal with, grow your military and become prepared to defend your self-righteous country, 'cause we ain't gunna do it for you again, especially if you're gunna cop an ungracious tude.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money to spend.

im 100% certain i saw a tea party rally on TV just last week (yes it may be weeks old footage) of a woman holding a sign of Obama as a monkey.

i am completely within my rights to oppose the American policies that effect my country. is not a globalist policy one that is expectant of western countries such as Australia to go to War with them? Bush sounds pretty globalist by this standard.

on a more serious note yes, we are VERY grateful for America joining WW2, and so is the whole world i think.

I am saddened by a country which has so much, yet who's policies over time have done so little to look after its own people. Not everyone is blessed with the same right to education and class status affording them the leg up that is very much needed in this dog eat dog world.

Hating on America? sigh. i love America, and the Americans i have met. u seem to have skimmed over that part of my post.

I hope you get your man. you will be dissapointed. how much money would you guys lose if you stopped trade with China? how much of the rest of the world owns American debt? Asia owns the most.

Threads turn, however, given this thread was, what is a deal breaker to you, let's continue on that note from here, to take the thread back to the original question....

A frequent misconception is that China and Japan hold a large portion of the us national debt. This is just not true. China and Japan combined hold less than 15% of the total debt. Less that 35% of the total debt is held by all foreign interests. The biggest holder of US debt is the U.S. government itself, with 35-40 percent of the total.

I couldn't resist a chance to post this, I had to do a report on it last year in school.

We do not allow inappropriate language/content such as cussing (bad words), racial or sexist comments, offensive images/comments, persistantly engaging in fighting with other members, telling members to leave a thread or our site, character bashing, rudeness, starting rumors, demeaning or devaluing someone's opinion, solicitation of sex, or sexually explicit language that is not for the purpose of learning about sex.
I and Little and the Mods, find debating in threads refreshing bringing real talk, being open about thoughts, refreshing about a subject ... I will let Little answer this .. In our FAQ rules I see nothing about discussing politics and JNS suggested a new thread, as long as it's in the guidelines above and it's Little's call.

Point being on "this thread" Politics had nothing to do with it... And veering away takes away from others posting their replies, which in return makes this thread pointless to start with for the OP.

              Elanor-Jane,

When I am wrong, and know know this will shock you: I have been wrong before, I want to be righted immediately. And when I'm wrong I will admit it.

Elanor-Jane, I do believe that one of your biggest problems is that you know so much that isn't so.

The Tea Party has the highest percent of college educated and wealthy members of any political party in America. Do you really believe a Tea Party member would display a picture at rally of Obama as a monkey? That's more silly than trying to assert an illusory health benefit to not taking showers.

However, Elanor-Jane I do admire your spirit. I have always liked spunky women. I was never much attacked to meek women. But then again, American women are known to be feisty, which is consistent with our culture.

The problem with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant, but that they know so much that isn't so.

                Hi Chandler's Wish,

Socratic debate leads to knowledge. And I am always disinclined to acquiesce to censorship. However, you're absolutely right about this thread going off topic.

BTW, what are your deal breakers? Did you post them already? I ain't been caffeinated yet, so I'm lacking ambition to scroll backwards.

                  Good Morning, chaya,

You, my California homie, are 100% correct. And that is one aspect of our debt that's so scary. We're monetizing it just the Weimar Republic did, which led to hyperinflation, which eventually led to WWII. And one of my biggest Obama fears is that he will get us in another war, in addition to the four he's already started he's gotten us in. And if he does get us in another war, his agenda will be that's a big one so that it might pull us out of our depression.

In what area of the once Golden State do you live?

Anyway, let's get back to the original topic, which is deal breakers on a first date. I'm sure we could have a political thread in the Lounger if anyone is interested.

On a first date, I'd that showing up unwashed and in dirty clothes would obviously be a deal breaker, excessive talk about ex boyfriends, rudeness, being easily distracted from the date by things like constant texts and phone calls, being unable to talk about anything deeper than who should win American Idol, never letting me get a word in, and so forth. Even giving me the sense that they aren't being themselves and they are "faking it" for the sake of trying to sell themselves can be a deal breaker, because dating isn't meant to get two people into a relationship, it's meant to show them whether they are compatible for a relationship.
