    I actually had this discussion with my bf recently. He is still in school, but I am finished and already working and have a good job.

    But for him, he wants to be able to provide, and being in school doesn't all that to happen. So for him, he feels like a failure if he were to be a husband who had to depend fully on me.

    For me, I don't care at all, but its really important to him, and I find a lot of guys have those old school values.

    What I would do, is not talk marriage or engagement, but talk commitment and life together, and see what he sees in the future (if that's what concerns you). A ring on your finger doesn't mean a thing.
