I started dating the man that I believe to be the love of my life almost 10 months ago. EVERYTHING (sex, conversation, dates, all of it) was amazing about us until early February. Then, I began to feel like we we were running short on things to talk about and that we are not as hot as exciting as we once were. I get it, that initial infatuation with each other, the honeymoon period where everything about us is wonderful and we can't get enough of each other, is more or less over. Don't get me wrong, I am still in love with him, still love spending time with him, and want to continue to date him. I am confident that the same is true for him. We still have great sex, we have common interests, we talk dirty and I intentionally dress in ways that will get his attention (but still decent and work appropriate), but I feel we are kind of stalling out on new things to discuss and are generally not as hot and spicy as we once were. We are getting comfortable and it scares the crap out of me. I don't want us to get boring, for him to walk away due to boredom OR for him to stay out of a feeling of obligation, or for him to wake up one day with the feeling that he loves me but is no longer in love with me. Please help me breathe new life into my relationship. Thanks!

The honeymoon is pretty much over, but is there a way to get the feeling back?
So, I need some advice on how to keep me and my relationship fun, exciting, and romantic....

Have you traveled together or played sports together or gone to the beach together, etc? There are things other than dating that you two should do together to enjoy each others company. When doing those other things, the conversation is not going to be dating conversation. It will be more about the activity that you two are doing together.I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience.

Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?
From a speech by Patrick Henry on March 23, 1775 at St. John's Church, Richmond, Virginia -
You have to realise that a long term relationship will not stay at the dating stage. Don't stress
yourself out and find ways to enjoy the comfortable period also. It's not the end of love when
things settle if both of you are happy together. Just learn ways to spark up the regular moments
of every day with spontaneous actions. Also discuss this feeling with your partner. He might not
even realise you're thinking like this and see things as they were. Communication will bring any
feelings we have to perspective with the others view and usually make things brighter. Don't give up!Comment

If you have run out of things to talk about together, try to do some things on your own that he might enjoy chatting about. Just like people say that when you're single you should try to be the kind of person someone would want to date, when you're with a partner you should still strive to have fun and be interesting on your own, especially in ways you can share. So for example if the two of you like to do active things like go for hikes or play basketball, try going ice skating or rock climbing. You can go check out a locale on your own to see if it seems fun, then bring him along.
Nature gives us shapeless shapes,
Clouds and waves and flame,
But human expectation is that love remains the same,
And when it doesn’t, we point our fingers and blame.
Register|Contact Admin|Email Admin
Comment

The excitement of a new relationship is that it is NEW. By definition, any extended relationship stops being NEW. It becomes less and less automatic to learn something new, do something new, share something new together. At some point, you have to learn to love the person for who they are and what they do rather than when there is something new involved.
That said, life doesn't have to become dull and boring. As others have said, you can plan new experiences together. In addition, as long as you both enjoy learning and growing as a person (personally, intellectually, spiritually, etc.) you can always find some newness to share.Comment

We indeed do things together beyond dinners and movies. We play golf together, watch sports (football mostly), got out and see friends (separately and together). We do talk about the stuff we do, but I feel the silences, even though they don't come up too often. It may sound like I am over thinking it, but it's hard to not have that thought about why it's all not as stimulating as it once was. It's still good though
I know it can't be new forever, I am just having a lot of trouble navigating this phase and finding a way to be comfortable with comfortable. I do bring it up sometimes, and he assures me that he is happy. I just don't want to bring it up all the time or that WILL make him nuts, lol.Comment

What I consider the number one sign your relationship is fine isn't sex or conversation, although they are key ingredients, it's that you can make the other person laugh, I mean almost bringing them to tears with just a quick witted unplanned deed or comment. You each do that on occasion and you'll be fine.
A woman is getting married, she asks her mom; "how do you and dad keep the excitement in the bedroom after all these years?
Mom answers her; "I never, ever let him see me completely naked, it may be a scarf, stockings, open shirt, always leave a little mystery for him"
A few weeks after the wedding the new Son in Law stops by his new MIL to pic up something for his wife.
MIL asks; "So, how is everything going with the newlyweds?"
SIL answers; "Just fine but I have to ask, does your daughter have any quirks I should know about?"
MIL asks; "What do you mean?"
SIL answers; "Has she always slept wearing only a hat?"Comment

All relationships require us to spice things up and shift "gears" after a while. As you're getting more comfortable with each other, it is a good time to start asking deeper, more personal questions. A romantic relationship has to grow or it will eventually die out. But your feelings aren't a sign of a dying relationship, you just need to move into the more personal area and learn to know each other better.
There are books and sources on the internet on questions and things couples should know about each other, which are great for relationships. Check them out, you might even find some tips on putting the spark back into your relationship.Comment

Maybe you are so busy with your individual lives that you forget to bond with each other. Why not go out during the weekends to watch a movie or have some dinner. Don't forget also to keep that simple but sweet gestures at all times like kissing him before going to sleep or give him a quick kiss once in a while.Comment
