    I'm going to weigh in here with a different perspective. If you feel like you did something wrong, then there is a problem. The problem is that you don't feel able to openly and freely communicate with your bf. This is deeper than this one incident. You need to sit down and talk with him and get this issued cleared up. If you fear his responses and feel you have to be selective in what you share or what you tell him, you don't have a really healthy relationship.

    Sometimes we need to temper what we say or how we say it. Like not telling someone, "that looks horrible on you", instead you say, "I like the other one so much better". But if you feel you can't say it at all there is a problem.

    Your ex was out of line with his previous behavior and it is understandable that your current bf wouldn'e care for that behavior but unless you were flirting and encouraging it, it had nothing to do with you. Talk with him about this. Get it cleared up or it will undermine your relationship.
