Don't overanalyze it, it's over. You are with someone you adore now, who makes you feel so much better than your ex and with whom you are so suitable.

Like HD said, the one left behind always thinks it happened out of the blue, but it has already happened to the person who left a long time before. She had thought about it, made the choice to leave you instead of stay with you and make the relationship work. Does it matter why? Would it make you a better man to know? I don't think so.

The dream felt nice because, perhaps, you are still with her in the dream, when things were good between you two. But even that doesn't mean anything. I've had very nice dreams about my ex too, but I would never be able to be with him a day longer than I was.

Do you miss her as a friend? Do you care how she's doing in her life? Would you like to contact her?

My advice is to let it go, it is not worth the trouble and the pain that would cause to your girlfriend, no matter how harmless it seems to you. Appreciate what you have and look straight ahead, not behind. You are a good man with a lot of respect towards your girlfriend which she deserves. Going through your past over and over again will only lead to trouble.

Sooo.......if you read my other thread you know my bf told me Sunday night he was "falling in love with me" and it totally freaked me out. Inside at least. And so that night, I dreamt of my ex-fiance. Dreamt I was staying all night with his cousin and she was telling me how he still loved me and how she knew he'd never get over me etc etc. THEN, last night, I dreamt about another ex (my only other serious relationship) who was quite mean to me at times and did me very badly. But I dreamed that he was suffering, losing his job, had gotten back into drugs and I was trying to "save" him.

So......current bf tells me he's falling in love with me.....then for the next two nights I dream of my only two other serious relationships.

Wonder what a dream therapist would tell me about that? haha
