What do you do when you're temporarily apart from your SO??

In 19 days my boyfriend will be moving back to NZ, and I'll be following 3 months later.

Pretty much since I've met him (it's been... maybe 8.5 months now), we've been together every single day. And while we've done our own things on many weekends (we have separate groups of friends), we've always come back to each other at the end of the day to at least sleep in the same bed.

So now, suddenly I will have 3 months of all of that being gone! I really need some ideas on what to do to fill up my time, so I can maybe enjoy myself, rather than laying in bed feeling lonely.

I'm not gonna lie. Part of me is a little excited about having all that new spare time. But if I'm not careful I could just end up with the perpetual blues.

Weekends I'm not worried about, as I'll be sleeping and/or seeing my friends. But what about weekdays? When I come home to an empty apartment after work?

Write a book about your life with him

Each night, sit there and white a chapter, it will make you smile and I am sure emails will be flying around and calls, so include those in that chapter....

Then do things as well that you haven't done, like a long bath, with a glass of champagne, candles lit. Painting your nails...

On the nights where shops are open late? Go and get yourself spoilt once a month at least.

Go through your wardrobe and re-arrange it.

Grab a good book and read before you go to sleep.

Ask me via PM to send you Jamie Olivers cook book haha, and start experimenting on your cooking skills.

Take a walk in the park and get back to nature.

Invite some girls over for a movie night.

Take some photos of you being silly, and create a board that you can take with you And give to him as a present, when you get there.

3 months will fly, take time out sunshine

Immerse yourself in learning the history and geography of New Zealand. Learn about the Maoris. Learn about trips you can take.

I've been wondering the same thing with my SO soon to be gone 6 or so weeks. I am planning to:

take a class I've been wanting to take
        workout a lot
        decorate my new place
spend lots of time with my girlfriends
        Rent lots of movies
        Visit my family more often
        try new restaurants
        Cook new meals
        take more naps
        write him letters/emails
focus on my learning a new language

I am sure I will miss him like crazy. I have no doubt about that, BUT this will also be a good time for me to focus on myself and I'm sure you can keep yourself busy as well and know that absence makes the heart grow fonder

          This is great advice.

My boyfriend and I are the same way. Sometimes I think it's a bad thing that we spend every moment together, but it's just our personalities. He's started working away during the week, and I'll be honest, I do miss him and get all listless. But going to the gym helps, burns off a couple of hours and I always feel better. I bake a lot, read magazines, do yard work. ...but mostly workout a lot, for some reason that takes my mind off everything, not just missing the bf.

I'm in the same position, back in montana while my Beau's still in New Orleans. So I have devised a list of activities to keep me busy. I mean, girl, the sky's the limit when you're by yourself. Do little things you've always wanted to. Paint something, bead something, learn how to make candles or even soap! Use the emotions from the separation to encourage your creative side, whether it's writing a small poetry scrap book about how much you love your beau or singing really loud in the shower because no one's there to hear you! Time flies when you're having fun, and by the time you see him you could have cool things to show him and hobbies you can embrace for life!
